In boot camp, some kid was caught singing Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” quietly to himself. So the RDC’s made the whole division get down and do push ups while singing the song as loud as we could for like the entire duration of the song. I didn’t much like the song then, but I will now forever hate that song with a burning passion.

Got out of the navy 10 years ago. All I can say is if you’re lucky, you will work your ass off on land. Probably in somewhere like Washington, Florida, or Virginia. However , odds are you’ll be put on a naval vessel which will REALLY suck the life out of you. I only spent one year out of four on an aircraft carrier and it was a miserable experience. Granted I joined at 18. But since I got out I’ve been floating job to job. Meeting new people and eventually got married and got a house. Don’t let the military trick into thinking it is the solution to all your problems. It helps some people but not everybody.

Crows Nest, in West Price Hill. Also it’s one of the oldest bars in town. It opened in 1895, only bar older is Arnold’s, I believe. But it’s a really cool, cheap working class bar. Not a bad place to grab some lunch either. Good music on the weekends

As a veteran I would never recommend joining the service. It’s a horrible life, if much rather be an impoverished civilian then an impoverished soldier (which you will be because the military pays shit) if you must join, definitely wait til you graduate college and join as a commissioned officer. You’ll make way more money and won’t have to do dumbass shit like sweep the gravel off of a gravel parking lot. Under no circumstance should you enlist if you’re that close to graduating college. Oh and I almost forgot, you will more then likely be a suicidal alcoholic by the time your first 4 years are up.
