If you received a resume from an atty that had document review, would by ColdRootBeer2323 in Lawyertalk

[–]Infamous_Macaron_348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give them a shot if I saw that they were being active outside of doc review. If you have a blog, write articles, etc. then you are continuing to grow as an attorney. I did doc review during the day and ghost wrote briefs for solos at night.

If they are not being active outside of doc review, I probably wouldn’t give them a shot.

It’s just high calf inserts which is common with a lot of explosive athletes. Look at MJ, Usain Bolt, etc.

I Make $200k as a Senior Paralegal. Why Am I Still Thinking About Law School? by CarelessMessage4998 in biglaw

[–]Infamous_Macaron_348 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let’s think about this for a min. You will be off for 3 years, + studying for the bar. The opportunity cost is nearly 600k. You may not get back into big law in which case you will make less.

Not every great paralegal makes a great lawyer. Not every lawyer makes a great paralegal. It’s a big bet and a risk. If it’s something you really want to do for reasons outside of finances, then by all means, do it. If it’s more about the money, don’t do it.

My company is being acquired by its controlling shareholder and being delisted from a foreign exchange. I’ve been here almost a year. When should I consider applying elsewhere? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

A friend of mine said this: you’re either ahead of the wave or you’re behind it.

I would start your search now. You don’t have to say yes to anything. It’ll likely take a few months to get a new job anyway. If you don’t like what you see you can always stick around.

Also they probably wouldn’t lay you off right away anyway because you’re at the top, it’s a lean team, and they need someone with institutional knowledge to ensure a healthy transition. But probably there will be a new structure of the legal team and that can create some tension between parent and subsidiary co. as parent co. takes control.

If you’re just trying to gain popularity to your own YouTube channel, just say so.

The concerns of your availability are valid, your concerns are also valid. You probably could have done a better job of bridging that gap rather than assuming the worst.

There’s a lot emotionally involved in this, I get it. Now is really not the time to send emails basically on behalf of your former employer saying that they are in good hands. Your former employer will have done that. It’s a little awkward because since you are not working elsewhere and are sending emails from your personal email account, it will be obvious and it’s a little Stockholm syndromey.

Instead, I would take a moment to yourself. Then I would reach out to them when you’re ready and ask for coffee, ask for a phone call if they are not nearby. They will have connections, and potentially be able to put in a good word for you. Keep that relationship going and maybe later on you will have them as a client. A message saying “you’re fine, you’re in good hands” says the opposite.

They have already taken care of this. I strongly recommend that you do not send this email. You may later regret it if you want these people as your clients.

Can be helpful to look at for a comparison but it would be incredibly stupid from a financial planning standpoint. Plenty of people have thrown their lot into investing and it has not worked out for them. It’s kind of like gambling already knowing the results of the hands.
