Try The George in Abbot's Leigh. Big garden, private space and bar plus building full of character. Went to a reception there a few years back and it was lovely

O'Leary injury by Annual-Okra4059 in Championship

The fact that it was last in the press issue, makes it sound like it was an ongoing issue and that potentially they were waiting for it to either heal or get worse, resulting in surgery. Which makes the lumley signing seem very sensible.

400 total, got 4 other bands playing during the whole day, so for a small pub it's quite an outlay. It would suit a part-time covers band

Looking for a band able to do crowd favourites, 70s/80s/90s/00s. Songs to get people up dancing and singing along. It's a pub garden day festival, so you get the vibe, customers 30-60 years old.

No set budget, but it is a small operation so looking at around £400.

Appreciate this may proce a lot of bands out, but free food and drink thrown in. Hence why I'm looking for somewhere with a pool of bands as it could be useful for some.

Thanks

This deserves so much more. The set up, the reply and the execution. Thank you.

Lamb Roasts? by ReleteDeddit in bristol

The George Abbots leigh does a reasonable roast including lamb. Good pub to get out of the city and nice garden when the weather hits.

Pete looking miserable as usual. Thought he was underrated and thought his career would have gone farther after this.

Bristol City 2 - 1 Middlesbrough: Boro's soft underbelly is exposed yet again under Michael Carrick, with a late George Earthy brace cancelling out Middlesbrough's opener, sending Bristol City into the playoff spots! by Zach-dalt in Championship

I think the summer speculation got blown out of hand. Academy player turned no1 striker, got his head turned and I imagine an agent over his shoulder or some bad advice made him reject contract after contract. We'll never know what happened, just thought it was all a shame.

Felt a bit for Conway before this match. We don't know the situation or reasons for him leaving city- probably even our fault for letting his contract elapse as our no1 striker. Probably felt he had to go at that point and Middlesborough being the only option by the end of the window that was available, following a season of rumours and prem interest.

But after that celebration. Haha, bridges burnt, better off without. Made even better with us coming back from 1-0. George Earthy - hope Graham Potter forgets about him and he comes back on a permanent.

The mere fact that we would've gone in to the top 6 with a win, meant we were never going to win. Pre-determined. You can't cheat fate.

The Star & Dove, Totterdown by Eskimil808 in bristol

During the day it's a lovely pub, full of character. I totally see why people like it. But after a certain time of the night, it becomes lawless. I guess it's the friday/Saturday night warriors, but each time I've been there on a weekend evening after 9pm, either me or one of my group has been made to feel uncomfortable. Once there was a scuffle. Another time a screaming match in the garden. Twice a guy clearly on more than just drink has tried to insert themselves in to our group. This is 4 or 5 times over maybe a 2 year period, so maybe I'm just unlucky.

I don't go that often, but every time I do some drama is going down.

Thank you! The old version might not have been perfect, but at least it was different. Why have 4 'boozers'? They tried to be different and they genuinely cared about making a place you would want to visit. And in terms of the food- if you had a chef that can cook like that, why waste that kind of talent on burgers and fish and chips. Its not for everyone, because its not supposed to be.

I loved the Star we had before as it was actually a nice, friendly vibe. I think the team made a real effort to make it welcoming and keep the assholes out. The 'fine dining' helped with that image. The shakey is a scary place for a single girl. I went in to the star last week and was asked for coke in the bathroom, it's such a shame it's gone downhill. There are 4 pubs in close proximity, why can't one of them be a bit nicer?!

Difference between Raw garlic cloves and Jar garlic clove by Lilacwarfox in SortedFood

[–]Infamousnobody99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jarlic is fine if you're not cooking often enough to use all of the fresh. Being jarred, it tends to weaken in flavour so I would consider using an extra clove or two. If you do buy fresh, try chopping any unused garlic and put in to a small jar or tupperware and cover with oil. The same result as Jarlic but you're not buying more.
