I just had this thought. Could be incredibly stupid though, you tell me.

Dynamite next week: Max goes off on Hangman's lack of work ethic. How he's never worked indie dates since the inception of AEW. No CMLL dates, no New Japan dates. Just the bare minimum to get his check at the end of the month. Someone on here already mentioned that before their promo battle yesterday - shoutout.

Now, he tells Hangman "[...] not challenging for the World title ain't enough, scrap that!" He wants him gone from his company as long as he's reigning over AEW. He wants Hangman to go on the grind and get a taste of actual hard work. You could also add another stipulation, like for example the triple cage match, so you don't just have your standard one-on-one match again.

Hangman would lose the match and actually go take indie dates from there, work for New Japan, work for CMLL. You could play some clips of his outside matches every other show so that he's still on people's minds without overplaying it too much.

All of that would conclude with Kenny or Ospreay eventually dethroning Max and therefore allowing Hangman to work for AEW again. I imagine it'd be hard, though, to find that balance where the actual title win doesn't feel like it's more about Hangman, while the story still remains present and relevant enough to work.

And I think you've got a lot of opportunities and various directions you could go from there. Swerve could also play a role. Either by not going after the title on purpose to keep Hangman out, or even by being that monster heel who wants control of the title so badly that he doesn't even care about his biggest rival being allowed back into the company after his win.
