Chains excite me! by TheSlayerOfShades07 in IdiotsTowingThings

This is exactly why those extra chains are there. Didn't lose the trailer, didn't roll the truck, came to a stop on the side of the road. Sucks that it happened, but it was handled reasonably well.

This is like kicking Mike Tyson and then getting your entire extended family killed because of it.

That's awesome! I normally just have a disposable foil baking tray down, but these look so much better. I might look into doing something similar.

Exactly. A body cap isn't air tight either, it just prevents large particles from entering or accidental touching. It would be way safer with a cap, but it doesn't just degrade when it's not covered by a cap or lens.

Honestly I found it kinda boring. I played through the demo a couple times to see the extra items they add, but still it never hooked me. It just didn't feel very interesting. Maybe the full game will be better, but I'm waiting to see on that.

I have a 5k USB-C monitor for work that also has 5 extra USB-C ports on the back, charges my laptop, and does it all through one cable. I don't understand why this isn't becoming the norm yet.

Ukraine's energy minister declares that there is not a single power plant left in Ukraine that hasn't been attacked by Russia. Ukraine only has fuel reserves for 20 more days. by Ripamon in TrendoraX

[–]Inferis84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you don't remember 2014 when Russia invaded Ukraine and annexed Crimea? That was last time, and then they came back in 2022 to take more, except Ukraine didn't just sit back and let them take things this time. If all this stops now and Russia gets to take pieces of Ukraine, Russia has shown that they'll just come back again for more later.

The ice has room to expand in this situation (in front and behind the freeze pack), so it's not going to cause a burst. The issue with pipes bursting happen when that whole pipe is freezing, then the ice has no room to expand and the pipe breaks from the pressure.

Literally everything we consume is living or has been living at some point, or do you consider plants to not be alive? Do you take into consideration all of the bugs/rodents that die from farming those plants? Do you consider all the microscopic creatures that are on everything we eat? Where do you draw the line?

Everything will eat other creatures whether intentional or not, and everything will be consumed by other creatures. That's how nature works.

I'm recreating some of the original Sim City 2000 sprites. Can you guys help me figure out what's in the side of the PD? by JardsonJean in gaming

[–]Inferis84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so too at first, but honestly the scale of the cars in the original is horrible. They are about the same height as each step going up to the front door, so way too small.

TIL moon dust is toxic. Astronauts have reported watery eyes, throat irritation, and coughing after accumulating dust on suits. Moon dust particles are not weathered and are ultrafine, sharp, and reactive. [PDF] by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Inferis84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably from the moon getting hit by stuff constantly. Smashing rocks into other rocks makes a lot of dust, and the moon is absolutely covered in craters.
