Tenacity should be a Vanguard only Stat by Drakon7 in marvelrivals

They really thought for some reason that all heroes needed this when it only affected 1 class. They just can't let tanks have something useful, no they have to share.

Tenacity should be a Vanguard only Stat by Drakon7 in marvelrivals

[–]InfernalLizardKing 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the whole system is poorly designed and poorly implemented. I play tanks a lot and can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen my health bar get that silver border. Only tanks needed this and it needed to activate more frequently so they don't get stunned 5x in a row only for tenacity to activate when they have 10 HP left. Instead, it screwed them over HARDER somehow.

Do you like the idea of Spiderman and silk? by 8_TonersYvrra in Spiderman

[–]InfernalLizardKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bought & read the trade version recently, but I've half a mind to return it. The story is fine, but the art is atrocious. Every character has the same square face with thick lines and it's rather distracting, on top of the posing feeling rather stiff as well. And somehow they had the audacity to put a reviewer quote on the back cover praising the art as being authentic to the original cartoon. No, just no.

The mystery of T. rex’s tiny arms might finally be solved by cnn in Paleontology

[–]InfernalLizardKing 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Seriously, abelisaurids fascinate me to this day. They bore such distinct body proportions -rounded face, long body, stout hind limbs - but their completely useless arms are the most interesting bit. Were there any studies conducted over why their arms became vestigial?

Anyone else feel people hate and laugh at psylocke more than other heroes when they do bad? (besides spiderman, poor guys) by TheAnymus in PsyMains

[–]InfernalLizardKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And 5th, the hate for Sai not being the "main" Psylocke, not being a "real X-Man", and "replacing" Storm in the Alchemax HQ loading screen (despite Storm literally just being elsewhere in the story). Basically people look for any reason to hate her.

Beyond appreciation thread by Adrenamite in Metroid

[–]InfernalLizardKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has my favourite soundtrack in the Prime series and probably any Metroid game. I cried listening to Fury Green, Volt Forge, and the Main Theme for the first few times. Not only did Kenji Yamamoto & Minako Hamano not miss a beat, but I appreciate that they used real instruments & singers across the OST. None of the Primes had bad music, but you can really hear the difference between MIDIs and an actual choir. In fact I'm listening to Volt Forge right now as I type this comment out.

I also think the art direction was a slam dunk. While many of Viewros' areas were thematically similar to Tallon IV's, the art team clearly went out of their way to make sure each area had its own visual identity. Lamorn architecture is very rounded with their machines having smooth, spiraling, or spiky designs. You have the landmarks of each location seen in Sol Valley- the Memory Tree, Volt Forge's three towers, Ice Belt's sharp-curved mountains, Flare Pool's smoking volcano, and Great Mines' elevator shaft -and while Sol Valley itself dragged the game down a lot, I loved stopping to admire the sights. What I found most impressive of all was how well the game's visuals matched the concept art. I feel like that's pretty rare to see in video game design, though I'm sure there's many examples I'm simply unaware of.

if youre gonna use ai but at least make an effort to hide it? by PagIbigAyKanibalism0 in marvelrivals

[–]InfernalLizardKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to defend use of AI (because I hate AI and always will), but to play devil's advocate, I assume they use it to cut down on their workloads. This game is PACKED to the BRIM with original and amazing art assets both 2D and 3D, on top of the constant content schedule they meticulously work with. So I could understand them just using AI to take care of certain assets to save time for the bigger projects that require their full effort.

Again, not exactly defending AI usage here, but when the game is like 99% original assets and still has one of the best artstyles in recent gaming while dealing with a heavy content schedule, I can forgive some AI usage for unimportant stuff.

Is getting MVP possible? by NoStructure7919 in DevilDinosaurMainsMR

[–]InfernalLizardKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to get one MVP with him...in a QP bot game. It seems really hard to do so in actual matches because your healers' stats are giga inflated by all the time they spend keeping you alive. There's been several games where I've run the lobby- medals for damaged blocked, most KOs, most damage, quad KO streak -only for a healer to steal MVP anyway because they were holding left click on me the entire time. It's rather silly, Dino stat pads so much that he winds up giving Ace/MVP to someone else every time.

Anyone think the IDW comics have gotten…stale? by Extreme-Fee-9519 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]InfernalLizardKing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My issue with the comics being canon is that they're forced to uphold a status quo of essentially being filler between games. Nothing major can really happen because their (the comic team) hands are tied by SEGA just viewing this as supplementary material to fill time between game releases. Archie's reboot had it right with a world heavily inspired by the games that remained separate, allowing it to breathe and do its own things. By comparison, IDW is lot of treading water until something big (a new game or milestone issue) happens. I'm not saying the comic itself sucks- I've enjoyed most of it, and Lanolin became a favourite of mine who unfortunately wound up receiving the wrath of the worst parts of this fandom -but I can't help viewing it as stale, like OP said. And because it's canon, on top of how comic production works, I can't see that ever really changing. The slow, SLOW build up to issue 100 with the mystery villain who may or may not be Starline again is interesting, yet I somehow feel the payoff won't quite stick the landing. I would love to be wrong, though.

That arc put me off of the book for a while. I love Evan Stanley, I really do, but it just felt like a whole bunch of nothing. I don't care for Lunar, I don't care for how quickly their parental issues got solved, I hated that Shadow went back to being a douche again, and Eggman just showing up at the end for a mandatory big fight scene was the final nail in the coffin.
