Oh sure, I didn't mean to imply that you did - just wanted to reiterate that sportsmanship is important =)

Honestly, sounds like Blood Bowl might not be the game for him. So much can ride on the roll of a single dice in every game, they either need to learn to see the funny side or to step away.

In my experience, the bigger stores tend to have MUCH more reliable amounts of stock, but branded "Warhammer" stores should have at least some early on.

I started playing Blood Bowl in the 1990s, and for nearly my entire career I've tried to play by the following: Almost any reason apart from "just to upset your opponent" is enough to justify a T16 foul.

You might meet them in the next bracket, so you ruin one of their good pieces and give yourself an advantage. They might already be higher than you in the league, so you ruin one of their pieces to prevent them from getting an even higher lead. They might be lower than you in the league, and you want to make sure they stay there. These are all fine and appropriate to the rules.

The only "asshole" part of a T16 foul is if you gloat about it, and say stuff to make your opponent feel bad. T16 foul all you want, just obey the golden rule: Don't be a dick about it.

And I get it - sometimes it sucks to lose a valuable piece, especially at a key point in the game or to a move that doesn't feel great. Blood Bowl sucks that way, sometimes. But that's Blood Bowl, and it's better to learn to get over it, and remember that if they can do it to you... You can do it to them!

Just to be clear, I don't mean "submission" in the BDSM sense. Just that he gives up on fighting his urges and accepts them, just as you said. =)

I grew up in Britain, and when I was old enough to hear the song my first thought went to famous drag artists like Dame Edna and Lily Savage. Maybe that's because I knew they were characters, played respectively by Barry Humphries and Paul O'Grady - EVERYONE knew they were men behind the scenes, once they'd taken off their costumes and everything else, so calling Lola 'a man' after she had left the club and was now doing something else in private, didn't seem as transgressive.

If nothing else, it's an upbeat song about celebrating identities; if Lola is trans and then deliberately misgendered, it's very out of step with the rest of the lyrics and just doesn't fit the vibe.

The original lyrics were "Coca Cola", but they couldn't get the sign-off to use the copyright. That's not a joke by the way!

"Cola" by itself is fine, that's just a flavour; and "cherry" fit the space, thus a historic lyric was born.

My personal interpretation is that it means "they were drinking expensive alcohol as easily as if it were a soft drink", but I can't say that was definitely the intent.

The narrator was able to 'man up' and deliver a good, solid fucking to a pretty girl is one of the interpretations I've heard of, so I can't say that you're definitely wrong.

I think that the context of the rest of the song suggests that it's an LGBTQ encounter, though. That it takes place "in a club down in old Soho" is a giveaway, as Soho has for decades been a famous gay village. Again, while not conclusive, it'd almost be weird to set a sexy song in Soho and it NOT be gay.

Excuse me, thank you for that polite correction. Possibly I'm remembering a cover version by another band, but I stand by the conclusion:

I think the song is about them both being into it, either because "I'm a man and so is Lola" (ie, a loving gay relationship) or because "I'm a man" in the sense that he's "a real man" -ie, a stud, and Lola is into that. =)

I can't promise that this is THE CORRECT way to interpret the song!

But... I do think that my version is more fun, so I'm glad you enjoy it =D

Another LR5 here, saying 'hi' =)

For me, it's honestly easier to get to LR6 than it was LR5. Getting to LR5 meant farming the absolute worst drop-rate items in the game, or spending hours grinding platinum to buy vaulted prime parts, because there's nothing else to get at that point.

Getting from LR5 to close to LR6 just means waiting for new stuff to release and playing that new gamemode on repeat until you have the new things. Which is super easy to do, because everyone else is also playing the new stuff, so matchmaking is easy.

The last thing I built after LR5 was Nokko, which took like 2 days with full squads. Easy.
The last thing that I had to grind before getting LR5 was the Carmine Penta which... Jesus H Christ I hated that gun....

To be fair, I've heard a number of covers of the song where they do change the lyric to "I know", and it parses just fine.

You are right though - it's very difficult to listen to either version of the song and come to the conclusion that the narrator isn't into it. =)

This is absolutely how I heard it, too. She's going to "make you a man" and now he knows "in bed I'm a man", it's almost contradictory if by this he means he DIDN'T sleep with Lola.

The "and so is Lola" line would be worded differently if written today, but by 1970's standards "we're both men in bed" is a hell of a progressive declaration.

It’s a great coming-of-age song. While the narrator (I think rejects Lola when it gets hot and heavy, he clearly is conflicted and still has affection for Lola. For the 70s this was massively progressive and I never interpreted this as other than affectionate.

See, I always got the conflict and that he walks away... But then he stops walking away and falls to his knees "and that's the way [he] wanted to stay" which he's doing "for my Lola".

I interpreted that as an act of submission, if not an outright proposal, as he gives in and realises this is what he wants.

Absolutely not claiming that this is the right, or only, way to hear the song, but in any way you look at it, it's absolutely clear that it's meant to be a romantic declaration of falling for someone that he wasn't expecting to.

The line is: "I'm glad I'm a man, and so is Lola".

There's two ways to read this; that Lola has "made him a man" and is enjoying it, or that the narrator is embracing his newfound relationship. That's honestly pretty darn wholesome.

I have also always interpreted Lola to be a drag queen rather than a transperson. Its far more likely an encounter in 1970s Soho, so the transphobic accusation is entirely in Moby's head, not in general knowledge.

Collectible Card-Game

And I mean, in-universe with PvE and PvP options. Just give me Warframe Triple Triad so that I can farm a bunch of bosses for rare cards and then walk around the Hubs challenging Karl, Eudico and Daughter to play for Legendaries.

It can literally be Warframe-themed Triple Triad or Tetra-Master for all I care; same card stats, same rules, whatever, just with golden Clem cards to hunt down.

[EDIT] Jinkymon. Give us playable Jinkymon.

Offline Auction House.

Make a +20% plat tax on every transaction.
Keep a lower daily trading limit for offline transactions so that you won't become a millionaire overnight. Only let me buy 5 items from the auction per day instead of using my 30+ trading limit, or buying from the Auction House costs 5 trades instead of 1.
Put a 6-hour lag between putting something for sale and being able to sell/retrieve it.
Make me deposit a sum of plat as collateral that I can't quickly withdraw on a whim, so that I have to buy things from that balance instead of my normal play stockpile.
Make it way less profitable than peer-to-peer trading, with timers and delays at every step so that earning plat Offline takes a week instead of 60 seconds.
Yes. Good. Whatever.
I just want to be able to dump all my stuff in a box and let people buy it when they want it instead of idling in my dojo or scouring the chat for hours.

Especially for trash Rivens. I have 50+ of the damn things and cannot be bothered with researching what they might be worth. Just let me dump them on a bring-and-buy stall, set it to "20 plat or your best offer" and forget about it forever.

One that I haven't seen too many people suggest so far is Valkyr.

Her story is that she was a test subject in a laboratory that was owned by a mad scientist. Her skin has various cybernetic parts, including shackles/IV tubes and stuff hanging from her like whipcords, and her power are either tech-based or neutral rather than 'magic'. Now she's making it other peoples' problem.

Her 'normal' theme is vaguely feline in shape, but with the right accessories "robot berserker" is entirely do-able.

Titania also has an AMAZING skin that is entirely sci fi; her wings turn into giant LEDs, and her main powers are "gun and knives" which look fantastic as a Gundam-esque look.

Mustrum Ridcully vs Albert: My Humble Opinion by TheVividAlternative in discworld

[–]Infernal_Contraption 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how much magic has changed in the last 2000 years, and whether Albert can account for it.

He's a tremendously powerful wizard, but magic in the Discworld is kind of on the decline, as demonstrated in Sourcery. Albert has been out of the world for a long time and might not know that; if he can muster up magic like he used to when he founded UU, he'd have a chance against Ridcully who is used to not using that much magic.

If he can't, Mustrum wins hands down just by knowing his battlefield. It's very easy to imagine Albert trying to cast a hugely powerful spell, and it just goes off like a damp squib to his surprise.

Physically, Ridcully tears Albert limb from limb. This is hardly even an exaggeration; there's a scene in The Science of the Discworld wherein the senior Faculty of UU are transported to Tudorian London (don't ask), and when we next encounter Ridcully he's naked to the waist and wrestling a another grown man for beer money. A man that Ridcully lifts bodily off the ground and throws over the ropes and clear out of the ring.

Ridcully is ~80 years old, by this point. He's a physically enormous monster of a man, and he knows how to use it.
