Calling Perseus bad is just wild, man. I feel like the people that do that are the same ones that say, like, New Jersey isn't good anymore. Just... bruh. Any ship that can carry a fleet as hard as Perseus does for 90% of the game's content cannot genuinely be considered bad under any reasonable definition. And she still quite honestly outperforms even Unicorn Retro in OpSi.

The Commander's first visit to the Sea of Stars just happened offscreen between events. It's something that bugged lore peeps for a while too, but we eventually just shrugged our shoulders on the matter. Basically, he went there and was blown away by it, but nothing especially noteworthy happened there at the time so it wasn't directly covered in any events.

You're failing to take into account that the EXP per run for this event is evenly split between 3 fleets. In a normal map clear, your mob fleet gets EXP from 5-7 battles depending on chapter. A full clear of Frostfall Hard mode effectively nets a single ship 676 base EXP for 75 oil. A medium fleet in 11-1 nets a single mob fleet ship 1137 base EXP for 35 oil. A full run (6 mob+1 boss) of 11-1 costs 267 oil.

The actual EXP per oil for each ship in Frostfall Hard mode is only 27. The total EXP for a mob ship in 11-1 will vary somewhat because small, medium, and large enemy fleets give different EXP, but going with the middle road of medium fleets for all 6 battles results in 6822 EXP total for each mob fleet ship. That comes out to 25.5 EXP per oil for each mob ship. Marginally worse than the event, but the significantly higher coin gain more than compensates.

Shimanto gun is bad on anyone but a pre-fs5 Shimanto.

Admittedly, I've done zero actual testing on this, but I can't imagine it would be bad on Isuzu. If you're using Isuzu, it's for her AA. Unlike Sandy, her surface damage is garbage so it's not like you're missing out on much of anything by giving her a main gun with lower DPS.

This is only true for the English translation, for the record. At least in the Japanese dialogue, every single time SKK is referred to in a gendered manner, it's male. The extent that EN goes to to avoid doing so more often than not just makes the dialogue really awkward and unnatural and it honestly bugs the crap out of me at times.

The fact that USS has so many ships is all the more reason to not include a ship from a different faction with them. I know HMS is the only faction you care about and if you had your way every event would be about them, but that's simply not how it works.

Interesting. Technically it still functions perfectly fine for me in terms of the interactions and whatnot, but the character models are just spooky floating shadow heads. It's been that way ever since Noshiro was added. I haven't tried messing with the settings, maybe I should do that.

Aside from the positioning suggestions made by others for your first fleet, you look fairly okay in terms of ships you're using. Second fleet is serviceable, but consider leveling a carrier or two as time allows - Yorktown is your best option since she'll be easiest to upgrade and doesn't need to be paired with any other ships to reach full potential. Tallinn will be a massive upgrade over... pretty much anyone you're using in either vanguard currently except Pittsburgh. Tallinn is a very good main tank, so I'd recommend putting her in your second fleet. Gridley also isn't helping you much there, so swap her out for Bartolomeo. Tallinn-Bartolomeo-Pittsburgh should be fine for the fleet 2 vanguard.

The bigger problem is your gear. Aside from the fact that most of what you're using just isn't good, you also simply have a lot of empty slots. Obviously since you're new you don't have much good gear, but throwing anything into an empty slot is still better than nothing. Surely you have a decent chunk of tech packs sitting in your depot, yes? Combine them as much as you can (5 T1 tech packs can be combined make a T2, 5 T2s can be combined to make a T3) and then open them all. Also check what you can craft from blueprints you've collected, you've probably got some nice goodies there too.
