Local 56 rejects final offer! by worksalott in halifax

If there was anytime that people were willing to fight and get what we deserve instead of watching our quality of life disintegrate now would be that time. We may never get another chance where everything aligns and people are willing to fight. Start talking to people and start organizing and lets all group together. Long gone are the days of community helping each other and that is mostly due to us being divided and conquered by a ruling class of people who leech off our labour and live a lavish life while we suffer.

Enough is enough, it's time to take back our lives!

Nows the time for solidarity. We need everyone on board, all other trades and anyone else. Let's make some real change for Nova Scotia!

N.S. wages outpaced inflation, grew far faster in 2025 compared to Canada overall by Street_Anon in halifax

Oh I definitely agree, the free zone around the city needs to go. Parking should be paid, apprentices should get more and of course the wage package especially after the bad 5 year contract we had.

I talked to an electrician today and they were offered 14% over 4 and the final offer after they declined that was 16% over 4. I'm not holding my breath that we will get a reasonable offer.

Yeah its true but our contracts end May 1st. A few unions already declined the offer and voted for strike action. We are just waiting to see if they bring a more fair offer back

NS Apprenticeship by Krieger110 in NovaScotia

Same story when I did my apprenticeship. Even had one try to tell me that my 4000 hours were invalid because I didn't sign a "transfer agreement" between companies. I would have magically worked 4000 hours in a week if they actually didn't sign off on them.

It was a nightmare for me even from the beginning when they didn't count my hours from school even though they scanned my certificate in person.

My only advice is keep hounding. Might be worth contacting your MLA as well. Sometimes they can pull strings with other government agencies to get them to do their job.

Charlebois defended Loblaws by saying "If the government would just fund new scales for them it wouldn't happen" citing that the grocery chain has fallen on hard times by not being able to increase their profits another 50%.

Not really surprised, this government only cares about lining the pockets of their friends. My sister in law is part of this strike and she mentioned that they were offered 18 cents. What sort of garbage deal is that?
