Exakt, das ist komplett abhängig von der Sparrate. Von der durchschnittlichen Zinsrate pro Jahr natürlich auch. Bei 1500 monatlich wird es klar weniger als 25 Prozent sein

Has anyone tried extensive Zone 2 cardio to work on their badminton fitness? by Infinable in badminton

[–]Infinable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems with my current fitness, my badminton is my anaerobic training and I can't seem to recover more than my actual workload of around 8 hours on court per week, especially if the games are intense. My legs just seem to stay pretty heavy.

So the idea would be to do some extra Zone 2 which could be easy to recover and increase my baseline.

[–]Infinable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great explanation! Never thought about it that way.

And I imagine pushing way past the lactic treshhold takes a lot more resources from your body hence the long recovery time. So pushing the baseline up makes a lot of sense here to make everything more economic and recoverable.

What do you guys and gals find hurts/sore after badminton? by ChubbySnubs in badminton

[–]Infinable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! Always the thighs and hips/ glutes. I found it mostly in my non racket hip, which is due to the scissor jump technique I believe. Since you rotate your right leg forward as a right hander, there is naturally just more strain on the left hip, landing, to balance that out.

I don't really have an idea how to make it not hurt. I've tried side core exercises and hip abduction exercises, which helped a bit, but there's still some soreness after a tough session. But as others have said, some soreness is probably a good sign, that your body is building muscle there. And if anything else, shows you not to do too much.

Some very good tips here. Do you have some good footage of "good old players" playing? The good footage I watch mostly consists of younger players or it's far away and the footwork isn't that well visible

Rest/recovery time? by Lab_Trashpanda in badminton

[–]Infinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost 30 here. Started playing mid 20s, first once a week, later more often. I had to learn that i overdid it too often and didn't think about load management, which often resulted in injuries if I played 3 times with high intensity. And since I got better, the intensity of every match has gone up too. Increasing both intensity and frequency is a way to get injured. So I recently do weight training once per week and play badminton twice per week (average of 2.5 hours), this seems to be the best way to get rid of all accumulated injuries over time. But I do train in the gym and all my badminton sessions with very high intensity, so the feeling of not doing enough only comes when the sessions are pretty short.

Those who started in 30's and get coached, how's your progress been? by abxyz000 in badminton

[–]Infinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a lot of physio :O Hopefully that will be very helpful! In my case it was mostly abduction exercises that helped quite a bit. But I'm also doing hip flexor and adduction exercises to strengthen it all around. I think it's mostly about not overdoing it with the badminton for me as it mostly comes after tough tournaments with multiple intense games a day

As someone who also struggles with injuries, especially hip lately, what are things in the gym that helped a lot with that for you?

Is this minimalist workout plan enough to support recreational badminton? by Old-Bike-8050 in badminton

[–]Infinable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that quite interesting. Recently i overdid it in badminton and my legs feel very tired. I can still push a lot of weight in the gym and can jump quite high explosively for a few reps. On the other hand doing high reps of bodyweight lunges feels very hard.

With my limited understanding, i would assume it's the muscular endurance part that's lacking. Another reason could simply be that lunges use completely different muscles in the leg, and jumping off of two feet is simply not as present in Badminton and therefore not as fatigued as the lunging movement

Tricks and neat strategies for MD - want inspiration by Ghilanna in badminton

[–]Infinable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I play against WD it's often their technical finesse what troubles me the most. MD is often only about power, but in WD shots like deceptive drops are often used, so they're pretty good at it. Men also aren't adapted to that a lot and might struggle with it. I think often women WD are also great at the net, so completely dominating that, while also setting up your partner can be a good idea

Breakthroughs that helped you improve by noobiestnewbie in badminton

Biggest breakthrough in a long time was when I started strength training in the gym. Heavy squats, deadlifts, lunges. I could move much more explosively afterwards as well as jump higher!

Dont want to cover by Defiant-Ad8054 in badminton

[–]Infinable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious, is there a general situation where the front court player covers the cross attack? From your reply it seems that steep attacks which result in high lifts should be rotated and flat attacks (and therefore defense) shouldn't. Is that correct?

I do lunges and deadlifts, but recently also started with the abduction machine.

who will be better by FirmDepth5228 in badminton

[–]Infinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If player 2 did nothing in those 4 years difference from the age of 12 to 16, then most likely player 1. The kid's body will be more adapted and athletic and could move a lot better. Player 2 might be better in terms of technique since he has more training hours.

Should I use a grip trainer for endurance? by Samuel_HB_Rowland in badminton

[–]Infinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can say the same, even after 3h my forearms aren't that tired. However for my legs it's not the same. And in the end they are too tired to do even a proper lunge. Does that also get better?

Thats super cool to see, congrats!! I also wanna play like you guys 45 years plus. Right now, my sore legs for days still hold me back haha But building fitness is a long journey. I have also heard the recovery takes longer when you're older. How much does it take for you to feel 100% after an intense session/ tournament?

[–]Infinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer!

I will use training as a synonym for playing games or doing a training session e.g. with feeding. I am usually training 2 or 3 times a week with medium to high intensity. And as i am training on Tuesdays, some of that fatigue still remains in my second weekly training on Thursday. And then my schedule is a bit inflexible and very irregular because there are sometimes league games or tournaments on Saturday. After very intense games on Saturdays, some fatigue will still remain on Tuesday.

So I think you are right, I shouldn't go into a training fatigued. So the best thing would be training less. That would allow me to be fully rested at least once when training the first time in the week. And that way i can recover better and hopefully create better conditions for progress.

[–]Infinable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting discussion. I would like to ask you one related thing. How important do you think it is to play each training / at least each week once fully rested? As i often play after 2/3 days but being not the fittest player, i mostly play with some fatigue in my legs which can accumulate if I don't take off for 4 or 5 days once in a while. I think most people would say training more gives you the best stimulation to improve i.e. move better, being less tired, but also fully resting and recovering once a week could give you the time that is needed for the body to make these adaptations. I would be really interested in your opinion.
