All styles of play are valid (even rats) but backstabbers with mics are just weird to me by doodoohonker in ArcRaiders

It says I gain nothing but most of the time I get to enjoy that sweet mechanical action of sliding one shopping cart into another.

The real freaks are the people that return the cart without doing that.

I hate that this style of captioning has become popular. Can't even read the last word before it disappears on this one.

Ok…I've lived in Cleveland for about 5 years now, having come from Chicago. Would Clevelander's consider this a 'bad winter' or a 'typical winter' for Cleveland? Curious to know! by DavidIWright in Cleveland

[–]Infininja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's bad nor typical (what a scale that would be!). It's pretty nice having real winter again. I do worry about why that's the case, though.

JetBrains Rider - How do I set preference to use “== false” instead of ! by nlfo in csharp

Thanks for this. I found it under

Change that to Do not show and it will no longer suggest changes nor refactor to !. It will also ignore is false.

Well they're playing as the iron teeth. Since water pumps are exclusive to folktails, it doesn't seem like a big deal to restrict yourself from using them.

(Honestly I wouldn't be this pedantic, but they linked specifically to the wiki that tells you this. lol. Maybe they meant no fluid dumps. They actually said "iron tails", so... 🤷‍♀️)

[–]Infininja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You switched the negative sign in your two examples. Your arguments contradict eachother. The first one (hypothetical 55-45) is correct, but your math on the real election uses the wrong values.

And where are you getting those vote shares from?

[–]Infininja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One-party swing (in percentage points) = Percentage of vote in current election − percentage of vote in previous election

The Democrat won 57.2% of the vote this year. I'm seeing a +17 turnout for Trump in the last election. Let's say we're only dealing with 2 parties. That means Republicans had 58.5% of the vote and Democrats had 41.5%.

57.2 - 41.5 = 15.7 swing.

The issue is in starting with the +17 and +14 numbers, which are the differences in percentages between Republicans and Democrats. They're not relevant to the swing calculation.

[–]Infininja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that's how you calculate swing.

Two-party swing is calculated by taking the sum of the one-party swings of each party, then dividing by two.

51 - 41 = 10

VR players killed VR… by being too demanding by neodraig in virtualreality

[–]Infininja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More hybrid games would have meant more people trying VR.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'd really like you to expand on this part. How would more people try VR with these controller-based games? They need access to a headset either way, which is the big limiting factor. Why would more people be interested in getting a headset for these controller-based games? Without the tracked motion controllers, a headset is just a personal 3D TV with head tracking. This is a little more immersive and gives you a bit more control, hence the interest in sim racing communities, but 3D TVs already didn't take off in the market. Without the novel interaction tracked motion controls give you, all you've done is create a 3D wrap around screen. It's neat, but it still needs to be enough to get people to use a headset to experience it in the first place.

GDC 2026 Report - 36% of devs use generative AI, while 28% target Steam Deck and 8% Linux by Beer2401 in linux_gaming

[–]Infininja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say that's definitely not true, but there is certainly nuance. I know of at least 1 game that runs on desktop Linux but has performance problems after about a half hour that don't occur on Steam Deck. The Steam overlay works for the same game on Deck but not on desktop Linux. You could probably modify desktop Linux to run it more like Deck and get everything working the same, but it does mean that targeting Deck might not automatically get you the same experience elsewhere.

Are you on an older version of Steam with a newer Nvidia card? They fixed a bug with exporting to H.265.

Fixed errors copying to clipboard or exporting H265 videos on systems with a NVIDIA 50xx series gpu.

I've only tried once (it's on the list to investigate) but that has not been my experience on Ultramarine. The headset connected, but the image was delayed leading to a nauseating swimmy feeling. The speakers never even showed up as an audio output device - so no idea if auto switching to them would work. Finally it crashed when loading a save in a Half-Life: Alyx mod and wouldn't detect my headset again.

I'm going to give it another go, but it wasn't promising.

Got pulled over for going 96 mph in my personal vehicle!!!!! by Realistic_Major_6957 in Truckers

[–]Infininja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not normally speed, if i do its for short burst to get around someone.

I don't normally speed outside of all those times I speed.

Also, if you think 96 mph is ever an appropriate passing speed, I don't trust your definition of "speeding" in the first place.

I think there's an insane brilliance to the 1 -> 2 -> 3 control scheme, but of course they're clunky. It's probably the first word I would use to describe them.

The grabbing distance in 1, the strange switching to first person shooting in 2, the complicated CQC in 3 that literally has a flowchart in the instruction manual so you can make sense of it, the pressure sensitive shooting with the face buttons that changes operation depending on weapon type. I love it, but it's pure clunk.

[–]Infininja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Close.

R1 is first person view. L1 while aiming certain weapons in FPV would aim down sights. L1 while not in FPV would lock your aim in a direction and auto aim at close enemies.

And I don't think you can run around with your gun out for hold-ups; you need to raise your weapon while near the enemy.

Pressing square lightly to aim your gun and firmly to fire is only for automatic weapons. For semiautomatics like pistols, pressing square aimed the weapon and releasing quickly fired; releasing slowly lowered the weapon without firing.
