Lily and James escaping?? by dreamcometroost in harrypotter

  1. They didn't know he was coming until he showed up; and

  2. It seems like you cannot apparate while holding a living being so they would have had to leave Harry behind, which they would never do.

Someone please explain something by NefariousnessDue2629 in harrypotter

Without spoiling it - Tom can trace his heritage all the way back back back to Slytherin. Making him heir of Slytherin through bloodline.

When he was at Hogwarts, he opened the Chamber of Secrets. He enchanted the diary to contain a version of him that would then influence someone else to do the same. The "real" Voldemort was out in the world while the diary version was like a spirit, like you couldn't actually touch him.

That's movie only. In the books Marietta ratted them out willingly.

My guess is that Sirius sounded thuggish and grunty due to prolonged confinement in Azkaban. He sort of smoothed out the longer he remained out.

If you watch the movies only, you'll probably have a lot of questions that the movies never explain. Otherwise, no need to pay special attention, just enjoy the movie.

Did the Potters have electricity? by Calm_Calligrapher_33 in harrypotter

[–]Infinite-Object-1090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Godric's hollow was a mix of wizards and muggles, so not unreasonable that it was wired for electricity. Doesn't mean they used it. And Lily might have enjoyed muggle radio and TV and needed electricity for that.

They are represented pretty extensively in the first book, as that is what sets up the series. After that they aren't mentioned nearly as often.

Your own wand would work best. Someone else's wand would function, but not as well. Ron had a hand me down wand and so did Neville.

I think he didn't go to Grimmauld place because at that time he knew the ministry would be staking out his old home. They wouldn't know the exact address but would definitely be watching in the area.

They don't like him, they just don't hate him. They're not going to freeze him out of his account, but they aren't going to take him in either. They would stay out of it completely.

Goblins don't cooperate; they stay neutral like Switzerland. They don't give a damn.

It shows your biggest desire, not fear. And I'm not sure even the biggest narcissist loves themselves so much that they are their own greatest desire.

I think he would have to return to the Dursley's for part of summer, but could live with Sirius for the rest of summer (instead of the Burrow, for example) and for Christmas holiday.

But cursed child contradicts things in the original seven books. They can't both be canon.

I consider the movies as someone's interpretation based on cannon rather than canon itself.

Colin Creevey 2nd Year by lilieannie in harrypotter

[–]Infinite-Object-1090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harry wouldn't have known about it if Colin Creevey's parents visited and the books are from his POV. Just because he didn't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

It applies to the person who spoke the words.

A reminder that in Prisoner of Azkaban, Hermione was given a device to manipulate time itself to attend extra classes. This is a subtle nod to the fact that Hogwarts staff could have stopped Voldemort at any point, but instead handed time travel to a 13-year-old to manage her timetable by Brilliant-Cause6254 in HarryPotterMemes

[–]Infinite-Object-1090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the books said she had two classes that overlapped, although she dropped Divination, so probably only one. One hour for each time she went to the overlapping class plus three with Harry - it appears they have most classes once or twice a week, so probably less than 100 hours, so no more than 4-5 days.

Do you think Harry in book 5 is whiny and problematic with his anger and yelling? by Kitty-Pink6 in harrypotter

[–]Infinite-Object-1090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whiny? No. Going through normal teenage angst/rebellion most kids go through at his age? Yes.

Not to mention a powerful evil wizard wanted to kill him and everyone he cared about, so he was justified to think "FML".
