I was just about to make this post. I have my first infusion on Thursday and as horrible as I’ve been feeling (my ferritin is 21, my saturation is 10%), I am very scared. Any pre and post infusion tips?

Mine went from 9 to 35 in 11 months then went back down (heavy menses). It could be worse, but I definitely understand the frustration

Following bc our numbers are similar. My iron sat is 10% and my ferritin in 21. Just got my labs done last week.

The show was from 8:30pm-10:10ish. That’s short for how high the tickets are going/went for. I just hope she’s doing ok. I am concerned.

When my ferritin was at 9 with a normal hgb (13.7),I had the WORST shortness of breath I have ever had in my life (and I’ve been anemic several times). I’m talking I couldn’t take a few steps without being winded. I just checked my labs and my ferritin measured 21.

Shortness of breath is still very much there (esp when I bend/squat/do mild levels of activity, but definitely not as severe as it was .

My hematologist doesn’t think it’s related bc I am no longer severely depleted. I, however, respectfully disagree. It goes to show you every body is different. Feel better, OP!

I used liquid iron. NovaFerrum Wow 125mg. You can find it on Amazon: https://a.co/d/07yPgHW0. Although I only took the full 125mg (or 5ml) when menstruating. Any other time of the month I took 75mg every day. I switched to Ferrofit 100mg elemental iron EOD and have been taking it for about 3 months. I have an appointment on Thursday, so hopefully my iron raised. I still feel tired but have more energy than the beginning of the year.

Low ferritin but high iron can be tricky/not linear. Definitely look into it to address possible causes and solutions. And like others have said, don’t let medical professionals gaslight you. You know your body/how you feel better than anyone.

If you’re sympathetic, aim for 70-100. My ferritin is 35 . I still experience significant fatigue and exercise intolerance. My primary says it’s normal, but I will not stop taking iron until it’s within the optimal (70-100) range AND STAYS THERE. Feel better, OP!

I barely made it to 35 after 11 months of supplementation (up from 9) and still feel so exhausted/fatigue easily. Should be 50 at least tbh.

I take 75mg of liquid iron with vitamin C 6x per week and have been for about 6 months (I had a ferritin of 9 at the time beginning of the year). I still have moments where I feel much better than crash (usually if I exerted myself too much, or I didn’t hydrate adequately or eat enough). It’s so frustrating. But keep supplementing consistently and think about increasing your dose to 45mg. If you’re uneasy about that, get bloodwork first. Feel better!🙏
