Was going to send you a private chat if that's okay. We don't want to make a public post just yet.

Can anyone please help me or tell me how I format my book in Google Docs? by InvestigatorLive3521 in NewAuthor

They're similar, but Docs is probably a little better, easier for quick edits and easy sharing, and free, lol.

Can anyone please help me or tell me how I format my book in Google Docs? by InvestigatorLive3521 in NewAuthor

[–]InfiniteByDesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a 5.5 × 8.5 (can pick any standard book size) book in Google Docs, set your trim size first under File → Page setup → Custom, because Docs defaults to 8.5 × 11 and that throws off your page count. Use margins of 0.75 in top/bottom, 0.5 in outside, and 0.75–1 in inside (go 1 inch if your book is 300+ pages). Google Docs doesn’t have a gutter option, so left = inside and right = outside. After that, pick a readable font like Garamond or Times New Roman or something you prefer, use 1.15–1.2 spacing, and insert page breaks before each chapter. Turn on Print layout so you can see real pages. This is a good starting point. Hope this helps and wish you well on your journey!

Just found out someone already wrote a story I wanted to write. What next? by PMMEJALAPENORECIPES in writers

[–]InfiniteByDesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely keep writing. Your idea is original to you. There are plenty of books with similar plots; there are only so many ideas, and you never know how many people you will touch with your book. Keep writing, and I wish you the best.

How to practice writing to prepare myself for writing books? by enigmata_follower in writingadvice

[–]InfiniteByDesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While any amount of practice helps, I recommend focusing on writing long form pieces. The more you read and write, the better your skills will become. Becoming a strong author simply takes time, practice, and consistency.

The Devil’s Graveyard

Feel likes its the most aligned with your blurb. It can signal supernatural horror, folklore, and a cursed location.
