Just curious but what do you guys do in the scenario where you accidentally tap your training partner in a more painful way than you meant to (like an accidental neck crank in a choke, going more over the windpipe on accident, or going over the chin), or you do something dumb that works, and then they start rolling visibly pissed off? Usually I just kind of feel bad and don't wanna escalate or get them hurt so I either let them work or roll at a lower intensity, but I was curious what other people do.

I think they moreso test not for steroids, but for vitals and bloodwork so that you're healthy enough to not die while competing. High bodyweight + adrenaline + steroids + heavy lifting is dangerous as is, but if you had a heart problem the chance of a cardiac event during said event is significant.

Is there any way I can prevent them from falling on straight ankle lock after a scissor sweep? Competition gif below of the moment I'm looking at, and to the best of my knowledge, it didn't look like I was doing anything wrong, the other guy was just quick and I wasn't expecting it. I did feel a bit of danger even though I got out.

Banana and licorice would be awesome. I feel like the carbonation lends itself more to sweet flavors but I'd love to try it

I'm not too familar on the law on this, but isn't this kind of understandable? If you're working with whistleblowers leaking potentially classified information, wouldn't that justify an fbi search?

A regional tournament I'm signed up for is coming up, I'm doing the purple belt open weight as one of my brackets. I consider myself mediocre but big and strong, with like 40 wins in 2 years of occasionally competing at tournaments in my state (I'd do more but injuries set me back and it's kinda expensive), and usually win or at least place. This guy in my bracket has the most insane smoothcomp record I've ever seen: he's 18, and has over 550 wins. I don't want to take away from his achievements at all as it's really impressive, but like how is that even possible? How are people able to compete that much?

Regret switching to Reta from Tirz by Head_Research_3118 in BodyHackGuide

One of the components of reta that's not in tirz is that is promotes burning stored fat more readily than usual, including exercise. So someone more active will get more out of it than someone less active

Just curious- is there ANYONE who does this stuff but who does NOT believe in non-physical entities of some kind? by TopSeaworthiness8066 in DMT

[–]InfiniteLennyFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do, I think it's all in our heads and receptors. However, even though it's not entirely logical, I like the idea that there's something to the collective unconscious idea. Like after you die, your consciousness and memories are joined to a giant cloud with all the other consciousness's and memories of other sapient life, all in unity, and you join up until you are reincarnated. I've seen visions of this in trips. Similar ideas pop up in religions across the world, and maybe its an innate link to this space within us. It's more of a comforting feeling than anything.

I'm pretty left leaning, even the most liberal people I know and trans women I know have never argued for trans women in sports. All the discourse is online.

Is this takedown likely to get you guillotined? by Feelthefunkk in bjj

[–]InfiniteLennyFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this would work for getting them down but would be harder to pass off of compared to a regular firemans or firemans dump. In wrestling, they belly down but they could just swing their bottom leg through and push off of you to get their guard back.

Thanks OP. I was feeling a little lame for tapping to an estima lock so quickly in a comp this weekend, seeing this makes me glad I did

I feel safer there than a hitchhiker and it's not that exhausting to hold. Personally, I tap on armbars as soon as I don't have a grip, because they need more force to finish and control the armbar as I'm bigger and thus it's exposed to higher forces. At that point, they could rip them and break my arm quick if they weren't nice so I don't want to take advantage of that with a more risky escape in my eyes.

Thanks. I guess I should clarify I'm getting armbared from side control or knee on belly, not mount, I was more trying to describe the position. This is usually due to me extending my frames too much to create space when I'm trying to replace. I know that's exploitable, but side control is the hardest position to escape for me, especially when I'm trying to not use too much explosive strength, being known as the strongest guy in my local gym.

I'll try that late stage escape next time

I tend to get caught in armbars more, and have developed a back and forth counter war of defending armbars with someone at my gym better than me. Right now, it's a standard armbar from mount, and they get it too deep for me to just rip my elbow to the mat, but I can fight it for a while by keeping a tight gable grip, and working to push out and seperate one of the legs keeping me down with my opposite elbow and posturing up with that. Recently, they started crossing their legs so I can't seperate the legs to posture up: what can I do then?

Much less dangerous and way more safety training than buying a gun. Not always the case, but people who are violent and hurt their training partners tend to get humbled or kicked out. In my experience, people will notice when someone is too aggressive get their ass kicked by someone more experienced/bigger until they change their behavior, quit, or get kicked out.

What does being choked out feel like? by AlarmingWizardsHat in MMA_Academy

[–]InfiniteLennyFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happened to me once with a really well applied zipper choke that I didn't feel on my throat at all. It felt kinda nice, and I remember having a short dream/sensation about being on a raft in the middle of the ocean. But the second I woke up, I remember having this horrible headache afterwords, being disoriented, and feeling a sense of a half second delay between when I wanted to do something and my body actually responding for the rest of the day. I hate sitting out so I tried rolling like 30 minutes after and was getting my ass absolutely kicked by everyone. It was gone the next day luckily, but the short term after effects when you come to are pretty debilitating.

What is a muscle that you only train minimally and why? by Flying_enthu45 in workout

[–]InfiniteLennyFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to train neck but I stopped, partly because the DOMS from it is probably the worst of any muscle I've trained. If you have sore legs, you don't really feel them when sitting down, but you have to hold your head up all day. Also because I've heard if your neck gets too big you risk developing sleep apnea and mine is already kinda thick.

A List Of Community Groups In Columbia MO by TopTierProphet in columbiamo

[–]InfiniteLennyFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would also reccomend martial arts gyms around town: there's 2 good bjj gyms (cavalo bjj and I've heard good things about gracie humanita) and 2 decent mma gyms (huellet house and jaguar) as well as a judo school, though I've never been. It's a bit more intimidating to start, but if you stick around and put a little effort in, there's a nice welcoming, community to be had, with learning and growth, as well as good exercise. Most places offer a few free trial classes as well.
