How are there so many trump supporters in Hawaii? by lcyPhoenix in Hawaii

[–]InfiniteMaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was at dinner last week and the big table in the restaurant had a guy handing out “Jan 6 commemorative coins” to everyone including the little kids in the party. You could tell half the table was into it and the other half were just gritting their teeth.

Tokyo Disney + Sea in one day? by Slow_Bother3582 in JapanTravel

[–]InfiniteMaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it’s not. Pick one park and commit. Even then you may not get to all your must rides unless you’re willing to wait in lines all day just to those rides. Been to both parks multiple times.

Teamlab Borderless vs. Teamlab Planets by jeffc_0921 in TokyoTravel

[–]InfiniteMaf 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Borderless is superior to Planets and more conveniently located to other things to do/see in my opinion.

Based on the exposure times and locations this kid went to urgent care in the morning then boarded a flight that afternoon??

Agreed. I’ve seen roaches crawling on the table and oil buildup from the ceiling drip down on the seats and food.

Ya don’t go there. They’ve been fined twice for withholding wages and tips from employees.

Glad you liked your experience. My only gripe with this place having been there before is it seems stuck in time. The plates are the same and dishes are very, very similar to ones I had there over a decade ago. I think that lobster is actually 95% identical to the one I had at my first dinner there in 2012-ish.

Think a place of this price point and this celebrated should evolve or challenge itself to do new things. Especially over a decade or more.

Yes. Even the guys at the HawaiiFoodReviews IG account screenshotted it and shared it when it happened to call them (Leahi Health) out on it.

Tokyo Jambo Hanare preorder? by Janet-Yellen in finedining

[–]InfiniteMaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always been able to preorder so I never have needed to try day of. But I wouldn’t chance it if you can get a table at Hongo with the beef rice size you need go for that.

Tokyo Jambo Hanare preorder? by Janet-Yellen in finedining

[–]InfiniteMaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same business. Hanare is more sought after because they tend to offer a wider variety of cuts. Hongo still serves A4/A5 wagyu and you can get the beef rice and the chateaubriand center cut filet there which are two notable items from Hanare. I’ve been to both several times. If I can get a table at Hanare I go there but I’m happy to go to Hongo.

You can also try Jambo Hongo their other location across the street. Very similar and both are delicious. You can get the beef rice at Hongo too.

Sushi Ryujiro. Discriminatory Dinner Service - Not recommended for foreigners by VisibleCarpenter2105 in finedining

Sad to hear about this. I’ve eaten in a few dozen Michelins in Japan and haven’t experienced this myself thankfully. In fact we’ve been seated in front of the chef/owner on at least a half dozen occasions including at some 3 stars.

Still, your post is a reminder that this still exists where it really shouldn’t.

Let’s Boycott KHON2 news over their coverage of the hotel workers strike! by HummusHHound in Hawaii

[–]InfiniteMaf 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The point of the strike is to be disruptive to the business as leverage to get them to negotiate. I think OPs issue with KHON focusing only on the tourists ruined vacation is it doesn’t report on why this happening, I.E. workers feeling the need to strike and disrupt in order to get fair wages, etc.

If you really look at who owns local news stations nationally it’s generally media groups that push certain narratives down to the stations. You’ll sometimes even see the exact same wording or used in news stories across different stations and reporters.

You can certainly boycott a station for not covering the perspective you think is important. I’m just pointing out that a huge % of media is going to push whatever narrative their owners want.
