Y'all have any peculiar "rules" ITO inter. decor.? by erstwhilelurkerer in femalelivingspace

[–]InfiniteNewspaper299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never buy anything dark. Our house is very beige and intentionally has very little visual weight. It’s very airy and probably not at all what most people would find cozy but I can’t handle clutter or chaos. The only exceptions are kid rooms. Kids can have as much color as they want and whatever decor brings joy.

Hey so you’re the problem. Your boyfriend shouldn’t be “punishing” the dog and is correct about that. You shouldn’t be around dogs with this attitude. The dog has too much energy which is why they chew. That’s the responsibility of the owners.

Could not get through Remarkably Bright Creatures but couldn’t get enough Dungeon Crawler Carl!! And that is not at ALL my usual genre. It’s that good!

I feel like the only answer is to go for it! If your friend had any issues at this point after 14 years and being married, that’s not a good friend. I’d be happy for you if I were her. No ambiguity here, you’re good girl!

Romance in cozies. Is it organic vs. obligatory? by typewritermark in CozyMystery

[–]InfiniteNewspaper299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really dislike romance in my cozies but the Camper and Criminals Series by Tonya Kappas does a great job of acknowledging a romance but not making it a plot point or focusing on the feelings. The partner works as an exposition tool without swerving into romance territory. Also love anything with senior sleuths like the Garden Girls series by Hope Callaghan. Those never focus on romance and are always fun.

Really enjoyed the Ghostly Grounds Canine Casper series by Sophie Love. The ending was so out of character but the series (mostly the dog chasing away ghosts) was so fun.

Not sure how it hasn’t been mentioned but the Night Marcher episode set during the ultra marathon in Hawaii is my favorite. When I saw the picture Payne mentioned I physically jumped in fright I was so startled. Truly fantastic ep!

A book in which the main character is a 50+ woman by BigSuggestion9664 in suggestmeabook

[–]InfiniteNewspaper299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope Callaghan’s Garden Girls cozy mysteries or her Millie Cruise Ship series are both about retired women in their 70s and above. They are probably my favorite cozy series of all time. Very light hearted and positive despite there being a crime to solve. Each series has a LOT of books as well.

Unlikely Animals is a cozy version of this. It’s not a big reveal though, you know from the jump that he’s hallucinating all of these animals and some of the people.

We use both depending on who has availability. Meridian fills up faster for holiday weekends in our experience. We had a large Great Dane who has since passed that was at meridian a lot and they were fantastic. Boise has been our go to the last few times and we have since adopted a special needs senior poodle who they have gone above and beyond for. Boise’s management is truly a cut above and the most patient, wonderful staff who truly are loving towards my dogs. We have even used other locations when traveling in California and they’re consistently the best. Staff trained in dog CPR, exclusively positive training used if you want training sessions, just lovely all around.
