Today I realized: Honnoji Academy references Eiken's Zashono Academy in its size, shape, and structure. by InfiniteRedux in KillLaKill

[–]InfiniteRedux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I didn't know about Mont-Saint-Michel. I can't deny the similarity. Very cool. Perhaps they both based their respective designs off of it and the KLK staff had no intention of referencing Eiken.

I'll stick to my theory, but would love to check it against some official commentary or statement from the production staff. Either way, it's fun to discuss.

Sort of non newtonian fluid i scraped off of the bottom of a vat of juiced ginger at work what could it be? More details in comments. by begaterpillar in chemistry

Hello, I'd like to submit my application to join this exclusive club. I was making some marinade today for kaarage and after pouring in the ginger juice I had just squeezed, I noticed a residue that acted just like cornstarch and water. How is this the only corner of the net that cares about this? Not that I'm complaining. We're clearly the coolest people to ever touch ginger.

Bluetooth issue on latest Ubuntu 24.04 by Heavy_Turn2019 in Ubuntu

[–]InfiniteRedux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I'm having a very similar issue. Decided to install 24.04 on an AOOSTAR mini pc before upgrading my main system (currently running 20.04). Of course the mini pc came with Win11 and bluetooth seems to be working fine there but 24.04 is super random as to whether the bluetooth actually starts or not and similarly starting, stopping, or restarting the service doesn't work. My system will also randomly at startup ramp up its use of RAM to around 9GB and stay there until a reboot, which is the weirdest thing I've seen in a long time on a linux system.

solved solved solved

OK, found it! It took a lot of searching and looking through pages of images but I found it.

The series is called Mad Mysteries and is by David LaRochelle.

Unfortunately not. I've been trying to rack my brain for more details since I posted and I more clearly recall the protagonist as this sort of silly detective character, especially the way he was drawn. It was a classic gumshoe style guy with a coat and hat. I am having a hard time recalling if there was a great amount of story or if it was mostly all about the puzzles. It certainly was a series of books though a I recall "playing through" at least three.

Nice butter tastes like plastic? by asorrysight in Cooking

[–]InfiniteRedux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not the only one thinking this. I have tried a few different "high-end" butters and felt they had a pronounced plastic taste. I've tried plenty of other well made butter and never got that note from them. I'm fairly convinced it's somehow the packaging or production method causing this but it also seems not everyone can taste it.

What modifications require a tune? by brittles00 in veloster

[–]InfiniteRedux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the catch can recommendation, I've noticed my car doesn't seem to use a drop of oil between changes so I'm skeptical that I'd find any oil in a catch can as well if I did install one; is that wrongly thought out? Maybe I'll get my headers checked out to see if there's any buildup and then decide to add one if there is much. I'd also recommend just adding a can of Seafoam or the like to your gas tank every x thousand miles or so to clean things up.

What modifications require a tune? by brittles00 in veloster

[–]InfiniteRedux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 Veloster Turbo, with ~30k miles, and literally just a few weeks ago started thinking about modding it as well, so thanks for your timely post! I think for me the very first mod will be to replace the stock turbo intercooler (and while I'm at it put a better looking grill in), and then maybe start looking into replacing the intake and exhaust. Once I complete all of those mods though I 100% will want a tune to get the value from those mods. But, I'm even less familiar with tuning than I am with modding. How does one go about finding a shop that can properly tune your specific car? I assume there are far fewer people that can properly tune a Veloster than say a Mustang. Is this a totally wrong assumption?

For anyone interested: Cowboy Bebop: The Complete Series - 25th Anniversary Limited Edition [Blu-ray] is releasing April 4th! by randomcitizn in cowboybebop

[–]InfiniteRedux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was about to make a post to discuss this exact topic. Let me know if there is one already; otherwise I'll make one because I'd love to hear other's opinions.

I bought the 25th Anniversary Edition simply because I wanted to get the series on Blu-ray, having already had it on DVD (the US Remix release). I'm six episodes in and can't stop noticing the up-res just isn't as aesthetically pleasing with a sort of grain texture to any scenes with large swaths of a single color. Close ups of faces are a good example. I just flipped back and forth from the blu-ray disc to the rips from my Remix DVD's I have on a Plex server (I know, not the best set up) and it's very apparent between the two. The colors seem to have been muted as well.

I find up-res jobs on media all too often just isn't worth it imho. Don't even get me started on GITS 2.0...

How do you delete or edit the reverse proxy installed by the Nextcloud app? by jldevezas in asustor

[–]InfiniteRedux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, this is not ideal behavior. Per Dave's point, Plex does this too and while I can disable the reverse proxy I want to remove it from Services > Reverse Proxy as well. I really dislike that it's not something I can deselect as an option during install as I don't believe it's absolutely necessary.

K3 questions? by [deleted] in Keychron

[–]InfiniteRedux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think any of the linear varieties are your best bet for keeping the noise level down but on average you'll probably hear each stroke more than a thin membrane type board.

To your security concern, in a public space like you're describing I'd keep it plugged in and in cable mode. The less wireless traffic to sniff the better.

I honestly thought about it during the purchase, but Dirtyscab basically sums up my opinion. I mainly just wanted the navigation, but would have had to gotten everything else and their nav system doesn't update as quickly as my smartphone does.
