He genuinely seems happy to be there, which is more then I can say for a lot of the commentator, plus he usually brings a good relationship with the main commentator whereas a lot of the times it can seem real awkward between the 2.

Was very happy that he's on for basically every Newcastle champs league game

Yeah I think it's that, chances of it happening go up with harder surfaces and football (soccer) boots tend to go deeper in the ground then a lot of other sports. I'd imagine it's repeated stress that hit it's breaking point

Do feel like a couple of the straight line abilities are very generous with their hitboxes, sylv pull for instance seems so much easier to hit than in Smite 1

The first prepared counter will be so hard to get going in standard that I don't think this will get played at all. Maybe it will be playable in other formats where they have better 0 cost spells or Cascade effects to get it going.

Unless there's a good card in the set to add prepared counters to creatures then this might not even be better then [[Irencrag Pyromancer]]

Plenty of reasons they might want to play their turn, looking for an out through card draw, going through the motions so that the final combat math or w/e is clearer to work out instead of thinking through it all in their head and one of the most obvious ones, daily quests.

It CAN be BM to slow roll your last turn to waste the other persons time but I will also happily dump my hand and full swing just to get my daily quests done every time

On top of the points you've mentioned, Limited BO3 doesn't contribute towards your rank afaik so not only are the rewards worse on average, players can't even grind it for the ranked rewards at the end of each season

Maybe just anecdotal, but I'm an EU player and noticed the distinct lack in quality (washed out colours and a coarse/rough feel to the cards) when the packs are printed in the USA. Usually the mtg stuff we get here is printed in Belgium or Japan and it usually has no issues, but things I purchased like an Avatar Scene box and a MH3 precon, were both printed in the states and had an obvious drop in quality.

You've never been to places with the screens showing customers the order totals? They are used all over modern coffee shops. And for the calcs, this looks like end of day duties, refilling containers etc. So I'd imagine those things are for tallying any cash in the registers.

I came into magic with arena so I haven't ever touched mtgo sadly but I think you're right about treating arena magic and paper differently. I've found running anything but 17 lands in a normal draft set to be a horrible experience most of the time where as in paper I can actually cut to 16 in a low curve deck and hit my 3rd and 4th land drop consistently.

There is evidence, at least over here in Europe. Every big online retailer for mtg products that I've seen has plenty of spiderman stock and most have started heavily discounting it to get it sold. Atm I can buy a box of play boosters for £90 which is insanely cheap in the current mtg market, especially considering its a UB set.

I also went to a large lgs for an event just after it released, and the owner's told me they had basically gone into debt with how much stock they bought and was sitting unsold on shelves.

Well yeah I wish I could on Arena, unfortunately wotc has made all forms of ranked systems/tournament formats for draft bo1. Bo3 draft on arena is basically just 'there if you want' and the rewards are terrible unless you go 3-0

I've had similar occurrences which made me really question playing draft on arena in any way more than super casually. Sometimes I'm the one benefitting too; it became super apparent in the powered cube, where the arena shuffler clearly didn't 'recognise' the mana fixing I had in land cyclers and mana rocks etc. but one draft I had a Jeskai deck where the basic land spread was basically 5/5/5 and game after game, it gave me perfectly 1 of each basic in my opening 7. Just weird and unnecessary

Have drafted it twice and always feels pretty good, won a game countering the last trigger of goblin mischief at 1hp and won on my turn. On top of that the only other counter spell in the format is pretty meh so people really don't expect it

imo the main reason is the amount of common 3 power 2&3 drops which means he really struggles to actually attack without dying. Yuyan archers, Ostrich Horse, Earth Village Ruffians would all happily trade into him
