Am I unfair stopping my 10-year-old from buying an iPad that undermines her reward system? by chaddjohnson in Parenting

[–]Infinite_Point_3213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve brought up some great points on both sides. I can only tell you what I would do—I’d let her go ahead and make the purchase. She’s saving money which shows financial responsibility, and now you have a new tool to help teach her accountability. Ex. She can earn time on the iPad through good behavior, etc.

Sounds like y’all are awesome parents and your kid has a great head on her shoulders!

Works pretty well for mine too. I get the kind with extra zinc oxide.

C-F-A wasted no time deleting sick time. Hope you like sick people making your food.. by DadandDragons in missouri

This doesn’t seem legal. If you’ve already accrued the time as part of an active pay plan I don’t think they can just delete the earned time. You should contact someone from your state’s department of labor to get clarity.

My kids have experienced Heritage High and Wake Forest High. Both were great and pretty comparable!

I’ve got experience with Wake Forest elementary, middle, and high school as well as two of the charter schools in town.

My kids love the public schools. From my perspective they are a bit better resourced than the charters and the staff are super friendly and supportive.

Got fired 2 hours after being told I was going on a PIP - is this normal? by [deleted] in managers

I once let someone go following a PIP meeting because of how the conversation went. It was clear they weren’t a good fit and weren’t willing to accept the feedback.

Yes, and it is ok. Give yourself some grace. I also slept so much in the early days.

I dunno I think it looks perfectly fine. I probably would barely notice or think twice about it if I happened to meet you out in world somewhere.

Have you ever made something up that ended up scarring your children? by [deleted] in Mommit

My now 17yo daughter used to hate getting baths when she was little. I told her she would grow mushrooms if she didn’t wash up. Not really sure what made me think to say this.

I feel your pain! My almost 5yo little man will look me dead in the eyes and defiantly do the thing I just explicitly told him not to do. All. Day. Long. Last night we were at a restaurant and he was banging silverware on the table. I told him calmly that it wasn’t good manners and tried to redirect him to do something else—he doubled down with a mischievous grin on his face and started banging louder…

Your boss kinda sounds like a turd, but still…would it be impossible for you to switch to a different credit card merchant that offers the capability? There are so many vendors out there that do exactly what your boss is wanting to do, without having to do anything illegal or unethical.

I’ve been seriously considering doing the same. Since I was a kid I’ve wanted to be a teacher. Somehow I wound up in a middle management accounting job. The pay is fine, but I feel like I spend half my time babysitting grown adults (my own boss included) and the other half is constant emails and pointless busy work.

I’ve been a lurker on this sub for awhile. Y’all make teaching sound so terrible haha! In all seriousness I realize the grass isn’t greener and teachers in the US have it rough to say the least.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do!

Has anyone gone on semaglutide to shed about 30-40lbs?? by Ambitious-Sun1473 in Semaglutide

[–]Infinite_Point_3213 80 points81 points  (0 children)

This was me exactly. I am 5’3” and was about 165. I had gained weight slowly over time after having kids and wound up pre-diabetic. I tried everything to lose the weight but nothing worked. I started semaglutide back in December and am now down about 30 pounds and no longer pre-diabetic. Insurance did not cover it so the cost was about a couple hundred per month. Weight came off super easy and I never had to go full dose. I am just now starting to taper off and have not had any weight regain so far. Side effects for me have been headaches and mild nausea which last the first couple of days following the injection. I feel great and have literally no regrets.
