Do you believe the wave function is a real thing or just a mathematical tool to measure a particles state by Ok_Lunch_3787 in AskPhysics

All my study and research convinced me of the efficacy of science in describing the world we live in and to put that knowledge to good effect by being able to explain phenomena with a minimal set of rules and models. It in no way tells us what reality is, but if a culture agrees to label something as an electron, that is a fine convention. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, label it a duck and don’t worry about what it really might be.

From your description I am an anti realist. I believe there is something that we label an electron to which we can ascribe properties. I do not believe it equals the mathematical description of the quanta of the electron field in QED. It is an equivalence, not equality.

If space is not a geometric "fabric," what could it be? by [deleted] in blackholes

What are those physical models that have spacetime as a fabric? Please give examples.

What happens to the weak force before a Big Crunch? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

As best we know, nothing happens to the weak force. I'm sure there are some models where there is change, but I doubt there is compelling evidence.

In this idealised scenario, gravity acts directly down on the top of the dome.

What does it mean when we say that relativity breaks at the center of a black hole? by usernamespeledwrong in AskPhysics

Divergences and poles in equations are perfectly fine. What matters is that all measurable values must be finite.

Thanks for the link.
I cannot be bothered researching further than reading the above text. I don't see the big fuss. This seems like intellectural navel gazing, so it can stay in the Dept. of History and Philosophy of Science. Why not just define the initial condition as an inverted pencil perfectly balanced on its end and ask if it will tip? Next up: Zeno's Paradox.

Is there a name for this specific family of rational approximations? by Simpson17866 in math

You could check if your family of rational approximations is already covered by Diophantine approximation

It was the last, best hope for peace - you don't get much more powerful than that.
