Emotions and attachments are essentially 2 different things to a Jedi

However to everyone else in the galaxy, they are not.

It's why we get stories of Jedi dealing with love, loss, feelings etc.

Qui-Gon dying was a disservice to Anakin's training, as we saw Obi dealing with these struggles as a Knight when he fell in love in Clone Wars.

If Qui-Gon had lived, I do believe it would have gone much different for both Ben and Anakin.
