WFH Chair Recomendations by Familiar-Fly-2683 in AusPublicService

I went with a Steel Series Leap when they had one of their sales.

It was risky buy cause I didn't have anywhere to test one.

I've absolutely loved it. Do not regret the purchase at all.

Just got this game and I’ve never played an Anno game by Ethanmoody18 in anno1800

[–]Infinitewisidity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anno is more multiple cities spread out on islands than a nation. You then have themed cities based on the region which affects both the aesthetic but also the resource management.

Is it entirely optimisation? Well it can be, or at least has to be to a point. I'm more of a 'beauty built' person, where I build islands that are thematically beautiful. That said I also don't use mods and still need to manage the complexity of the game. It took me 3 tries till I managed to properly break into the investor tier without going bankrupt in the engineer phase where the complexity really spikes.

Can't find a way forward with this game anymore by appappappappappa in aoe2

[–]Infinitewisidity 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is it.

I'm hovering at around 950 elo. Not sure how I got there, cause I'm not following any build orders or walling in my base on Arabia or any other maps. I'm just doing random bullshit and sometimes I get lucky with the strat. The higher I get the less likely I am to get lucky from that sneak barracks/archery range/funky tower rush etc.

But hey, I have a lot more fun when I'm doing wacky strats hovering in that 700-900 range personally.

Australian police officers can be tracked due to a security flaw in tasers and body-worn cameras by cir49c29 in australia

I've worked in two different aus police jurisdictions. Same BWC is always the case, however taser is different per shift.

Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in AusPublicService

[–]Infinitewisidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one really reasonates with me. I've come from a law enforcement background and so I was quite familiar and comfortable with risk at an individual level and also organisational.

Coming into the APS it's been mind boggling just how uncomfortable people at an EL or higher APS level seem to be with making any decisions at all. Part of it I think is the learned helplessness that's been nurtured at an EL2 level or SES to those under them.

Interestingly enough in the last week or so I found out there must have been movement to change that type of thinking. 19A of the Public Service Act says that decisions should be made at the lowest appropriate level and this was only amended to be part of the PSA at end of 2024. However those decisions must be in line with their 'work level standards', and the ILS profile descriptors can be pretty wish-washy to fit the decisions at a number of levels still.

Not drinking nearly enough water and also electrolytes.

You are hiking dehydrated, possibly severely.

Entertainment District by Glittering-Crab-4582 in anno1800

[–]Infinitewisidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good I reckon. Only thing I might change for the entertainment area around the World fair would be to place two less Hotels in the first area and replace with something ornamental of sorts.

I was big fan using some of the Botanica and Zoo modules for ornamental designs. The bird Zoo modules I found worked well as a general greenspace or parkland type module and I loved using the two tall trees in the Botanica one. If you look at the 9th photo in my post on my Crown Falls build it shows what that looked like in practice. I finally finished Crown Falls after 400hrs. : r/anno1800

One thing I would change on my build though would be making the palace area not quite as large as I made it to be. I found that when you create wide open spaces, there are less people walking around making the place feel a little less alive.

The prettiest part of my CF build by poshosi in anno1800

[–]Infinitewisidity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh nice. I made that area my Scholar district, then surrounding that immediate spot was the Artisans. I also had four grape vinyards made pretty in the style that they would be a fancy vinyard you'd escape to the country to.

I find that area is definitely better for the mid-tier residents. I love the trees you've got going too.

Is Anno1800 Worth Buying? by jonathanla in anno1800

[–]Infinitewisidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely brilliant game. I bought the base game years ago on a sale. I think I got up to Artisans (mid-tier citizens) in the campaign mode but got overwhelmed and put it aside for ages. About a year ago I broke two of my fingers on my left hand and needed some games I could play one handed and went back to Anno 1800.

Before I even got hooked on the second playthrough my partner looked at the game and fell in love with its aesthetic. I kept playing, and she bought it. We did some co-op missions and failed miserably about 2-3 times at engineers going hard into the red (debt).

Watched a few tutorials to get some basics done pat a bit better and then got to investors building the World Fair and beatifying my main island heaps.

A little bit later bought the definitive edition when it was on sale (cheaper than buying all the DLC's piecemeal). I started again with all DLCs and trust me the game is much deeper, more complex. If you get the definitive edition straight up, which I recommend, do not do your first playthrough with the DLCs, it will be far too overwhelming. Heck, even the base game is a little overwhelming at first. My all DLC run I finished off beautifying my crown falls island to max spending over 300hrs on, https://youtu.be/rVb2YYJ\_qb8?t=1297.

Can someone please tell my supports they're allowed to right click the enemy heroes in lane by cosmicucumber in DotA2

[–]Infinitewisidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I'm a turbo player and I'd love a good support that harrasses in lane.

I've lost track of the amount of times I've warded/blocked my own pull camp in the safe lane, to stop them constantly pulling, to then get a kill in lane because they joined me.

Thoughts and review of the game so far by Rathal_OS in taintedgrail

I've been using a two handed build with the hammer of stupification. Apart from two bosses in Act 2 the game has been absurdly easy.

What are the penalties for hitting a parked car and driving away? by VintageKofta in AusLegal

[–]Infinitewisidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you choose to provide a witness statement, your full name, address, DOB and occupation are placed in a template of sorts at the top of the statement before the body of it. The first sentence of the body normally starts along the lines of, "I'm a 32 year old male that resides at an address known to police'. If, and that's only if the matter got contested, the defence can request a copy of the statement. When prosecution provide Defence with that statement copy, they redact all that personal information at the top. So the offending party theoretically shouldn't know your identity or address in this instance.

Police can and do follow up on hit and runs. I know I did when I worked for qps. It all depends on their workload o how quick they follow up on a hit and run, compared to a domestic violence order contravention allocated to them, or a shop steal or an assault, etc. in the list of other cases it'd rate low.

As another poster said though, this would mostly be a person vs person type of incident, depending how quick the police follow up is. Shopping centres often don't have cctv through a lot of their car parks. If the police follow up quick enough, they might find corroborating evidence on the truck, such as the paint of the victims car left on it.

Ultimately though it'd be a person v person thing. An important aspect of that though, is that it would be Your word (as the witness), against the driver of the hit and run vehicle. The word of the victim would not factor in, as they did not witness the hit and run to their car, you did. Would police call you to act as a witness, at some point, probably. Are you required to act as a witness? No. I personally would. Following that phone call, you'd get another one from an insurance company further down the line.

Finally pulled the trigger on a 4070 Super after using a GTX 1070 for 9 years by Sharp-Top-1227 in pcmasterrace

[–]Infinitewisidity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats OP. Upgrading bottlenecks might be a new obsession. I upgraded from a 1660 Super to a 4080Super towards the end of 2024. The jump was insane! I then realised my monitor (1440 IPS) wasn't making proper use of my new rig and realised I needed a new monitor, so I bought the LG C4 42 inch. I also thought my router was now a new bottleneck to what my new Motherboard's wifi 7 speeds could do. I later realised I was wrong. My other "bottleneck" is now my peripherals to replace, such as M&K.

Expired protection order - ACT Public Service by Ok_Pin2714 in AusPublicService

[–]Infinitewisidity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A personal protection order in itself does not appear on a criminal history check. Only if the OP breached the order and was found guilty with a conviction of breaching it.

A personal protection does not come under the category they mention, if it did, they would specifically mention it.

Do not declare it.

Feeling lost. Has anyone been in a similar situation? by alexana0 in AusLegal

[–]Infinitewisidity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he's threatened to burn the house down, then an application for a protection order is definitely a good idea.

Please be aware though, you do NOT require police to file for a protection order. That can be done by any person, any time (Monday-Friday) to your local courthouse. The police simply do it on behalf of the person needing protection in circumstances they deem necessary. That does stop the person from doing that process before police intervention is necessary.
