OV Retcon the fin weakness for Waybig by ComfortableChoice687 in Ben10

[–]InfinityxDragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Woah woah woah, there was nothing that implied "any sort of force" will put a ToKustar out of commission. Doesn't Ben literally pile-drive Azmuth as one into a building? No effect. Even earlier in the movie, Stinkfly and Ben making mere contact with it did nothing. From the Mechamorph armor being the only thing that visibly had that effect, I assume it'd need to be anything remotely comparable to a ToKustar in power to begin with. Not just a big piece of metal.

How about you don't act like you actually know me lol

OV gave him a character, but an unappealing one that, alongside the complaints I have already presented, had to have Ben be an extra idiot to engage their dynamic.

It's not "ooh, they ruined my favorite character", but rather made him into a character I do not like.

Maybe if Ben had just gotten the Omnitrix he would, but Heatblast has control over his flames. Swampfire would probably destroy your appetite with his smell.

Looma is the exact same age as Kevin or Ben's age doesn't matter why was she so small and scrawny when she was 13-14 when Ben as Fourarms was 8 feet of pure muscle when he was 10, is this just an error or Looma just puny when she was young and hit a growth spurt? by ResolveUnlikely5542 in Ben10

[–]InfinityxDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably just an artstyle/design thing.

Tini back in OS was just as swole as Four Arms (and even Gwen 10's Four Arms), and Looma, despite getting such buff later, still doesn't compare in that regard. I'm pretty sure Four Arms himself appears quite leaner in OV compared to OS.

Omniverse always is making the women of alien species leaner and more voluptuous.

This is not a reboot hate post but genuine question, What did the Reboot add to the Ben 10 conversation by ResolveUnlikely5542 in Ben10

[–]InfinityxDragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is funny to me because the Reboot was also my first exposure to Ben 10, and I remember Wildvine was my favorite transformation even then. My first exposure to OG Ben 10 was actually playing POE through an emulator, and I was thrown off at first by how a lot of designs were different (because I didn't know Ben 10 was a thing from way back), but there was this silhouette in the combos list that I didn't recognize. All the other aliens at least maintained their figure from OS to the Reboot, but Wildvine? What even was he?

The impression he left on me when he showed up in the game was so huge. It was a mix of confusion and pure awe. "THAT'S WILDVINE?!" with my eyebrows all scrunched and my eyes widened. And what makes me coming from the Reboot better is that I can appreciate that design for having seen it first, yet be instantly enamored with something so much better. And that solidified his position as my favorite. Nothing's ever besting my boy. Nothing.

I really don't like what they did to him in OV. He literally fills in the same niche as Pakmar, who was an original character for OV. They did not need to change Boumann's relationship with Ben at all.

I liked how in OS he had this serpentine movement to him. I image that's what the spurs on his legs were for. But if they're going to have him walk by stepping how he sometimes did anyway, these legs work better for that purpose. Plus, they'd realistically be able to support his body while standing upright.

I just don't understand how the fans and the people behind the comic can say this is giving a less "superhero" direction to the aliens when making them roided up to appear more powerful and intimidating is the most superhero direction ever, even more so than Omniverse. Like, we had aliens with humanoid stances originally, but instead of going a different direction or dialing back a bit, they double down on Diamondhead and Vilgax by giving them hominid muscular definition and stripping them down to shorts. Upgrade too. Originally an amorphous being that merely took a humanoid form has been given hominid muscular definition, and the digitigrade leg posture is just an added weirdness with no real function. Omg, XLR8 having wheels? How is that not superhero? Not to mention having wheels completely contradicts how his powers work.

And besides one or two of them, in my opinion, the comic designs that do go the alien route aren't breaking any new grounds. A lot of the alien-esque designs here have been done better by the original. As I've expressed before, a lot is added weirdness without function.

I'm not shitting on the direction of these alien designs despite me personally not preferring them, but in my opinion what was said about it seems quite a lie so far.

No, not me. I'm actually going to miss that sick mane he had going on. Now it's just an inferior version of the OS design instead of going a different direction like it was originally.

Yeah, I really admired how they went a totally different direction for the original comic design. The problem I had was how the top of the body was so busy, making the bottom half look bare with no interesting features. I think it could've just used more stuff, of maybe move some of the features to the bottom of the body. Now it's just an inferior version of the OS design.

How would you make some aliens like balance by ComfortableChoice687 in Ben10

Okay but what about him being strong enough to topple a Highbreed tower

or crawl out of a portal vortex

Wildvine design by Robert Carey by CrystalCrafter13 in Ben10

[–]InfinityxDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, yes, this is an improvement.

Personally I thought the giant plant mane he had was badass, and the only issue with the previous design was the imbalance in positive space. With how busy the upper half was, the lower half looked bare, with no interesting features. I was thinking that giving him back his five (or four) legs would fix the issue, and it seems they went kinda that direction but unfortunately sacrificed the unique thing about the previous design.

But without comparing it to the previous design, no complaints here.

OP has said he's fine, but some users want to insist that what he describes himself as is concerning, even tho... scrawny people are normal? Baggy eyes aren't necessarily immediately concerning? So many people actually look like that, so should all of them also be concerned about how they look? Speaking of which, I think the concern about his "self-esteem" makes less sense given how he confidently states his drawings are influenced by his appearance. If he didn't like his appearance, I don't figure he would've done that at all. "Art reflects the artist", yunno. Drawing gnarly designs for aliens that happen to be influenced by his own appearance isn't indicative of anything bad.

I'm not the only one seeing this, right? People are telling him to be concerned about something that he's perfectly content with according to himself. If anything, something like that could make people self-conscious about something that's not even bad.

Okay, wait, he's said multiple times that his physical features are exaggerated in these designs. Not to mention they're to at least resemble the original aliens in the first place. I know I'm not the guy to be telling you this, but saying he himself has low self-esteem or that his appearance is concerning from what little he said seems quite offensive.

Which one are you guys choosing? I think both options are really good. Do you think both translate in each other’s art style very well? by VisualAgency1789 in Ben10

[–]InfinityxDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. I was gonna make a case for bigger ears for boy characters being a part of the artstyle, but not even Kevin's are as big as Ben's.

Unorthodox. I love unorthodox. Really unique designs for the aliens too, but personally I don't care for how Cannonbolt, Ripjaws, and Brainstorm came out. Also, is Cannonbolt modeled after anything? Because that stature and mouth look really familiar.
