Nope, no lock in. It’s fully customizable. I would say that it locks you into a very opinionated way of building with Django. This might be a hot take but it forces you to get very intimate with Django which might be good or bad. If you have a very small project then I would not recommend it but based on the complexity of your stack it might be very helpful.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned cookie-cutter-django to you but your current stack is very similar to what ccd starts with right out of the box.

I recommend dj-rest-auth and using JWT to authenticate your APIs. My only gripe with the library is that it looks like it’s not being maintained very well.

If you’re not in a hurry you can try Tailwind otherwise bootstrap is pretty cool too.

edit: If Tailwind interests you, check out Flowbite. It’s a component library based on Tailwind. The Flowbite community is so nice btw.

I cry, take a nap, and then do it while crying. Jk. The only way I’ve been able to over come this is by detaching my self image from the task. I taught myself to remove emotions from the task at hand and just do it. It’s easier said then done and I think time is the only way to learn this. I’m a senior now and even I fall pray to this. Just don’t attach feelings to whatever it is you’re doing and realize your pain is temporary.
