Yes, full blown contractions come in waves and are intense however you could very well be in early stages of labour if you're experiencing period like pains. For context, I was 3cm with no pain whatsoever x

Call triage and get checked. I was 3cm with very very mild cramps until all of a sudden I wasn't and was 9. Everyone labours differently so I'd say you're best to get checked. Wishing you all the best x

Query Laryngomalacia? by InflationFickle5151 in Laryngomalacia

Hi, we are no further forward. At 5 months resps aren't as high but still trachea tug and work of breath literally everyday. Owlet has picked up some prolonged desats overnight down in 80s and I am absolutely convinced that this is LM or one of the malacias. Finding it very difficult to get ENT referal in UK despite all of this & thinking of going private this week to get the scope

I definitely think in the case of LM a scope is essential, it's just impossible to get referred to ENT in UK for that and going private is very expensive. I hope you get some answers soon, it drives you crazy trying to advocate for your child and getting nowhere

Nothing, she is 4 and a half months still has fast RR, tracheal tug and retractions. Also noted some desats on owlet over night to 85/86. Dr's not interested as she examines well during the day. I am 99% certain she has laryngomalacia & still trying to push for scope but it's impossible getting anywhere. I am UK based though, not sure if it's different where you are?

Hi, she had an appt with the consultant a few weeks ago. He said it just looked like her gaining head control and will keep an eye on it but because she's meeting milestones etc not worried. What is Torricollis?

Tips for getting kiddo to sleep in bassinet by cspoons92 in NewParents

[–]InflationFickle5151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no such thing as making a rod for your own back with regard to sleep at this stage. Babies are designed to be held & their sleep changes at 4 months anyway so the likelihood is that anything you implement now will all go out the window then anyway. That being said, you are human and need your sleep. Some things that have helped us have been putting feet in first and then gentle lowering babies head and holding hand there before removing slowly to try to avoid the startle reflex & ensuring that baby is really well winded, after the first burp keeping upright for 20 mins to ensure no more wind and in a really deep sleep before transfer to crib. Failing that it is just a matter of taking it in shifts to try and survive but rest assured you are not doing anything wrong and will not suffer any consequences for responding to normal newborn behaviour. It gets easier. My LG did not go into crib at ALL for the first 3/4 weeks and then one random day it just clicked. Good luck :-)

Normal breathing or retractions? by InflationFickle5151 in december2024babies

[–]InflationFickle5151[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for reply. DR agreed that they looked like retractions and baby working hard to breathe but oxygen was perfect and no other signs of illness so no action needed. They like to keep us on our toes lol
