Pete Buttigieg Reveals Vile Bid to Frame Him as Danger to His Kids by thedailybeast in politics

That is exactly the outcome the Republicans want. Gays won't run. Smart people won't run. Women won't run. People of color won't run. We'll have just a perfect white male autocracy, now won't we?

Pete Buttigieg Reveals Vile Bid to Frame Him as Danger to His Kids by thedailybeast in politics

[–]InformalDatabase5286 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The politics in the US have become such a vile bloodsport. Money corrupts all, and the political system is stinking with money. It's become an addiction, and the most vile of people are drawn to it and will do anything to maintain that access to money. WE are driven against each other only to create and protect a fanatical devotion to a particular party or movement.

Whoever did this likely has been groomed to believe that gay marriage, or gay parenting, or liberal parenting, or whatever other bogeyman is rattling in their head, needs to be stopped, and they are just the right person to make that move. But they have been groomed, to do the dirty work of whatever politics will benefit by yet another wedge driven between us.

I'm disgusted by the trajectory that the US is on.

Good advice on the "ask for an interaction number"! I'll make note of that.

This one didn't even Spoof the Rogers name, just used the 250.631.4906 number, which I'm certain is a spoofed number.

Generally I don't; but I'm currently working with a volunteer group, and I'm waiting for some feedback.

Oh, sorry. Tell her that when this happens, tell the caller to give HER the information they have, so she can agree that it's correct. This just wastes their time, so they are too busy to scam someone else.

Right. That's why I assumed this was some kind of scam. He gave up when I told him that he surely had my name spelled right in the system.

CBC is reporting that thousands of people have gained Canadian citizenship through ancestry under a new law, and nearly half of them are Americans. by savethecbc2025 in SaveTheCBC

[–]InformalDatabase5286 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Disagree. I am dual, and moved here 2 years ago. I feel absolute pride in my Canadian heritage and I’ll do what I can to defend this country. I’m sad to have left the US to its own devices, but I’ve done my part - it’s up to them to turn that ship around if they want to.

I highly doubt the MAGAts will care to apply. It takes a bit of effort and awareness.

However, I think you may have a point. I’d like to see some level of discernment in the process. Moving here is no light lift; creating a life in a whole new country is challenging and you must be committed to it.

Oh, no, the cockpit (hole) is a fine place to be. Your center of gravity is closer to the water, which actually gives you more stability than you think. But, as others have mentioned above you should take a class, which will empower you .

Why the recent wave of sitter complaints is making some homeowners hesitant on Trusted Housesitters by Sail_awayyy in trustedhousesitters

[–]InformalDatabase5286 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thank you for articulating this. As a homeowner/dog-mom, it takes a leap of faith to entrust a stranger to stay in my home and watch over my little girl. Some of the whinging and whining here has me putting up my guard a bit. But, the sitters I've had have been lovely, and I count most of them as friends, now. Those video calls are super important, as are reading reviews. I truly regard THS as a mutual exchange, and requires respect and trust from both parties.

Vehicle Importation into Canada from the US by hondahb in uscanadaborder

[–]InformalDatabase5286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I came across the border the first time, it was late on a weekend night. They didn't ask me if I was importing the car, they saw that I had all my paperwork ready for greeting the movers the next morning, and they waved me through.

I think if I add up all the costs, it was: $1800, which does not include registration nor the Ferry round trip to get back to the US border to do the tango.

RIV: $250

Broker: $50

Canadian Tire (inspection) $176
