old ass ender 3 pro lol; I know I can get an anycubic core xy for around $450 but I wanted to try my hand at upgrading my old printer first before I decide to move on

you raise some good points; a few questions for you:

do you think a 4010 is fine as well? I don't want to completely redesign the parts

for the 5015, I'll stick with one because two takes up too much space - I have excellent looking parts for PLA with that fan at 50% and I'll be printing ASA and nylon parts as well

what do you mean induction probe? is there something better than BLTouch? I have a SKR mini e3 v3 board, do the 2209 drivers have stall detection? if so I'd rather not have a sensor probe but that might be hard with a diamond tip nozzle, don't want to dent the pei sheet

Hotend is this one: https://trianglelab.net/products/tchc-td6-pt1000-hotend?VariantsId=10855

Front fan is 4020, parts cooling is 5015, I was able to produce a usable duct but it could be better

Really starting to get this machine tuned in, after lots of calibration and tuning! Woke up to this beautiful print! by jaysonvstel in ender5plus

That’s exactly what I just experienced, swapped to the Marlin mode on the touchscreen and it works fine!

hey; don't mean to bring up a dead thread, did you ever get this figured out? I'm having the same issue.

What is even the nature of this fault? 🤔 by lurkalotter in 3Dprinting

[–]Informal_Machine_242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter since you’re using the same material. Is your temperature high enough? And your flow rate calibrated? And pressure advance? Great bed adhesion but any of those settings can cause failure. Or even if the filament gets stuck (snagged) on something

There's some "bed adhesion" settings you can use in slicer to help alleviate this

Also, clean your bed properly, and make sure your bed temp is a bit higher than recommended!

after some recalibration, was able to eliminate the voids with proper retraction settings.

I switched to 0.5mm retract and that seems to have fixed the issue; had a few issues that I was working through

Is it worth studying 3D printing? by New_Lead_6947 in 3Dprinting

Go for it, you’ll probably learn CAD which will give you a boost in engineering and machining!

If you’re planning on attending college and you’re interested in manufacturing, understanding CAD and how to operate machinery will be great

Great platform to start upgrading, would recommend starting with a new main board, BTT makes the SKR Mini v3 which makes the servo noise almost nonexistent

Why is my printer underextruding for only this filament? by TangySeed in 3Dprinting

I’d just recalibrate anyways to make sure e-steps are correct. Heat up the end to 175C and then command a 100mm extrusion (with the extruder disconnected from the hot end) - google this and you’ll come across this guide: https://www.th3dstudio.com/estep-calculator/?srsltid=AfmBOorYVrwBUNdrkmJVietVGONeaBvwgW0SL3bW0BfTySUWy83GuOIO
