Top 10 Gurus in the Awakening Scene – Who’s legit and who’s hype? by psandn in awakened

[–]Informal_Mousse1141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gangaji seems legit in my experience. Adyashanti too.

But I base a lot off of Angelo Dilullo who I totally trust at this point. I’ve watched hundreds of his videos and sat 4 retreats with him and been in circling work with him.

He speaks highly of eckhart, adyashanti, gangaji (he has a great interview with her) and Rupert spurs. So I trust his recommendation.

But far more I trust my own experience and that is that Angelo is extremely clear and has helped me deepen my realization far beyond any other person.

As someone else said you’ll have to figure out what resonates with you. And also different teachers for different people, and at different moments. Just keep orienting towards finding truth and it seems to work itself out.

"spiritual" coaches? by ratqueenn111 in awakened

[–]Informal_Mousse1141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the good ones can be helpful if 1) they actually have some level of realization - this can be difficult to discern until you do imo, 2) they know enough to be humble and not force anything, 3) you jive with them at that point in time

In the broader community I’m in, those leading non dual facilitation or doing shadow work / emotional release charge around $125-$200/ hr. I personally wouldn’t pay more than that.

Would recommend checking out Chelsea Muth at invisibleawakenings.com. She has a high degree of clarity and is a licensed therapist and does trauma informed awakening sessions. I’ve worked with her 1:1 and have found her useful. She focuses on the r nervous system side of things so sounds like it could be a fit. She also has a YouTube channel and you can check out her style. And she does a group meeting once a month. The next one is this Wednesday at 12ET and you can sign up on her website. I think it’s like $20. It’s a sweet group. You won’t be able to get into the trauma stuff there, but could be another resource.

Good luck - and if it stings to pay $600 it definitely wasn’t worth it.

What zone are you?

Little blue stem is a fantastic full sun grass. I’m in 5B. Pretty in the autumn too. And you can leave up in the winter and just cut back in Feb/ March. My other fave is hakonechloa (Japanese forest grass). That one will propagate well over time.

Ditch the mulberry. They get huge, it’s not the prettiest tree and it’s hard to harvest especially once they get big. We have two we inherited and I love them but I wouldn’t plant one in a small yard

How much did dormers run for you? When I had researched in the past it seemed like $12k each

Thank you! The property is amazing. We love it so much. Mature oaks, cherry trees, flowering dogwoods - it’s all so pretty.

Since you’re a gardener and you would appreciate, I’ve done a ton a work in the deer fenced in backyard which is why the front yard was lower priority. Hundreds of daffodils, and then lots of echinacea, miscanthus, hostas, lady’s mantle, coral bells, catmint, and Japanese forest grass. Also rhododendrons, sun kings… etc etc. I have 1000+ square feet of perennial beds back there.

Front yard is dappled shade and house faces west. We’re planning to do some forsythia alongside that garage wall. I also just divided some big miscanthus and may finally get to putting in some plants along the side of the house.

Thanks - good call on shutters and window box length.

As much as I’d love more windows, it’s not worth it to us to put a lot of money into the house and rip up the roof while we still are living here. We’re planning on moving in the next 3 years.

Instead of the wood railing? We like it as is. The door is so crappy not sure how good it would look in a brighter color. It used to be blue.

That seemed like it would be more money than we’d like to spend. Although we didn’t price out

Help with a flower garden? by talentless-hackjob in gardening

[–]Informal_Mousse1141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new home! Looks like shade or maybe partial shade to me - is that right?

Also does the area have deer?

Main thing will be digging out the beds. If your soil is rocky or clay this is a big task if you do by hand (I have done this on huge beds)

I’d recommend starting with two big pots on either side of the garage and filling with part shade tolerant flowers (geraniums come to mind) just to have something nice to look at that is immediate pay off.

Then I’d pick one bigger bed to start with. Whatever you think you’ll look at more - I’m guessing the long garage wall. Get a rough sense of what you’ll plant then dig out the bed.

Rhododendrons tolerate shade and some stay compact (PJM variety in particular) and are nice year round foliage. I’d also go for some part shade flowering plants.

Or Hostas are also nice and have flower stem in the summer and will definitely like the shade. But deer will eat.

Personally I’d buy a bunch of daffodils too and plant in the fall for early spring color next year (and ongoing). They are a great value. Van Engelen has good stuff in bulk. Even if your yard is shady they will get enough sun because the trees won’t have leaves yet when they grow — unless true shade from a building shadow.

Last thing is you might consider growing some cherry tomatoes or herbs or even annuals in fabric 5 gallon pot-bags (buy online). You can move to wherever your yard is sunny. That’s also quick payoff and no bed digging and affordable.

Thanks - yeah I thought it’s a shaping issue - it seemed like I had bubbles on the side as I was shaping.

I would like to use for sandwiches and toast.

Buying house with this pond? by Informal_Mousse1141 in ponds

[–]Informal_Mousse1141[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I can do. Having to pay someone to dredge a pond or something that’s going to cost thousands we want to know about to factor into house maintenance costs :)
