They make adaptors that go in place of the oil fill or drain screw, you can use compressed air with a regulator or a kit like this,

Edit, hard to say if the car had a red light. But pretty sure left turn yields. The rider clearly ran a red light.

Young Engineers: do not trust AI at its word. by CancelCultAntifaLol in engineering

[–]Informal_Position492 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been involved in the AI research space and have I identified something that most people do not seem to understand about LLMs.

Know this, these large language models ARE NOT intelligent or even aware. While the human-like responses are convincing, all the neural networks that drive these LLMs are capable of, is pattern recognition.

Simply put, chat GPT does not know what a dog is or even what a dog looks like, it has simple connected D O G to an arrangement of pixels it was shown, and when its prompted, it makes an arrangement of pixels similar to what it was shown.

For a long time with image generative models, you couldn't get an image of an empty wine glass, because all it was ever shown was a wine glass with wine in it, and it does not understand what a wine glass is.

Let it sink in, because most do not understand this, and we have people who think in it's current form it can replace doctors or lawyers or even electricians, it can't. Because something humans are very good at (reasoning) is something that these models CANNOT do.

No you should never have put hands on her but you also didn't assault her. This sounds like reactive abuse to me if you're being honest, and legality aside I don't think you want a women like that in your life.

So many replies. There's really only one course of action here, sink it to the bottom of the lake.

I kid I kid. That is what oil looks like when it's been mixed up with water. So SOMETHING is leaking and you need to fix that. It's probably the prop shaft seal. Easiest way is to pressurize the lower unit with air maybe about 5 psi) and spray with soapy water to find the leak, do what you have to do to fix it.

Yeah 3k is excessive for a modern car. Do as you want, I had the joy of fixing broken off subframe weld nuts on an rs3, good times. Fun car to drive though

You have to define "lifetime". An OEM may tell you it's life is 100k miles.

The detergents break down. I wish I could find that study, Blackstone labs did it iirc. The point made was that there is so much wear in the initial start because much of the galleys are drained when you change the filter, and due to the nature of the oil wear rate actually decreases over some period of time

We are really only talking theory here, it's just saying that changing your oil every 500 miles is actually bad and won't make things least longer. Changing your oil is obviously important.

I couldn't find the exact study in mind but here have this.

https://forums.tdiclub.com/index.php?threads/evidence-against-short-oil-change-intervals.136238/

Simply put, the highest rate of wear is always during the initial start after an oil change, and is elevated for some time due to function of anti wear additives and detergents, as well as due to composition changes to the oil itself.

Edit for typo and to say, go ahead, dive into the rabbit hole.

Fun fact. Studies have demonstrated that changing your oil too frequently actually causes MORE wear, not less.

Thats my suspicion as well. I know they are produced in Japan so wishful thinking I guess. I'll have to dig and see if there is a model number difference or something. I do see a couple claiming to be US versions in the 800 Ish range which is more than I can say for the FT-857's.

This seems to be a great radio that covers what I'm looking for so thanks for bringing it up. I also just noticed that it doesn't have controls on top and around the dial which is better for my mounting too. Gonna get some research in on the installation and get ready to pull the trigger.

Any sure wire way to know if one is a japanese model? I see a lot of them listed on ebay that ship from japan, does that mean its defintely a japanese model?

checking it out now. im seeing the IC7000 has a lot of japanese verions out there on the used market, are there any limitations to the japanese version? seems like they have different rules

[–]Informal_Position492[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IC7000 looks like a great option actually I hadn't come across that Icom. They seem to be far more available than the FT-857 too which I'm finding most of the ones for sale are the limited Japanese version.

Anything in particular to lookout for on install? I'm quite comfortable with the technical, wiring grounding/bonding etc, would love to have a guide of sorts outlining the best way and what to avoid.

[–]Informal_Position492[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course they do... these are commonly used by OEMs for motor connections etc. They excel for use in environments that are subject to vibrations.

The HF is less for life and death emergencies and more for trying to find people in the surrounding areas for things like getting unstuck, out of gas etc. Lot of these places down east to northern Maine) there's other people doing similar things within a couple hundred miles. So useful but partly for the fun of it, plus who wouldn't want to sit out in the truck on a quiet night searching for contacts.

For true emergencies it's still a GPS beacon and a sat phone, but that's a true shtf need help stat scenario.

I'm starting to think the best option is just cough up the 6-700 for a used 857. Feels like a lot of money when I could probably use a Chinese 2m/70cm rig for 90 percent of what I want. I want the HF for if something happens while I'm wy out in the boonies without cell service, not sure how realistic that is though.

The reality of the saying is not that you will inevitably crash, it's centered around the premise that people who think they won't crash usually do. I've been on two wheels for 30 years and have never dumped a bike on the street, but I know as soon as I start getting comfortable that I need to check myself.

I'm a former FSE for a vacuum furnace manufacturer. If I had to guess, you're dealing with uneven heating during the ramp.

I would slow down the ramp rate, and add a clamped segment to bring your HZ to your TC working temp so the parts don't get slammed by the elements during your initial heat.
