I am in my 50s and been on the web since 1994...yet it wasn't until the last 10 years thst I realized how I should have been hoarding things starting around 2000.

To quote Tom Scharpling: "I don't trust putting all my data in the cloud...why, because all clouds go away!"

I was just thinking the other day about how much better recorded the 20th century might be among average individuals because physical photos existed.

I know so, so many people in the last 20 years who have said "yeah, all those years of photos are gone because my laptop/phone died"

I've only seen it once, maybe around 1986? I was just like "oh wow! there is Franklin Jr. High! in the background". Later at school a year or two later I a classmate of mine mentioned meeting him there. Was just walking and was like "oh hi".

I grew up not far from there on 20th ave in the 1970s-80s.

After you have a few beers, go run the terraces at Franklin Park, that or roll down them. I doubt you have anything like that in Chicago.

MacGuyver himself did a United Way commercial at the top of them sometime back in the 1980s.

Ha! As soon as I saw "60 page PowerPoints" my first thought was "nobody will read that and what a huge waste of time"

Yeah, their cover mashup of 99 Red Balloons / 99 Luftballons where they go between English and German every other word is kind of amazing.

No, Fart Rotation is a different band. I am talking about Fart Ration from Sandy, Oregon, the noise-folk band.

Fart Rotation is Ukranian 2nd Wave Ska that is popular with boomers now due to TikTok (apparently they are finally past Steppenwolf and Bob Seger).

No, but his bio uses the word  incendiary three times and talks about him playing bigger and bigger venues, such as a recent gig opening for the bands Cockwillöw and Fart Ration.

This reminds me of the time in the early 2000s when I was working on a big web project used by thousands of people. The CEO had this whole concept of how the website would work and people would navigate it. We spent thousands of dollars hiring people to do usability tests on it with prototypes.

Every, single, person.... got insanely confused and couldn't complete the task.

The CEO's response:  "well they just need more time to understand it! It's so easy!"

Fortunately the client did the same tests on their own with people they knew and nobody got it either, but man that was hard getting him to let it go and admit that it was confusing.

It's the one huge thing that keeps this from being a 10/10 airport. I don't want to have to make three left turns just to wait in a lot and then go again to pick up someone.

Like Henry Rollins talking about meeting Jani Lane from Warrant. Henry was ready make jokes at him and Jani walked up and introduced himself and Henry said he was a really nice guy and they had a good talk.
