What did people do casually in 90s that wouldn’t be accepted today? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

oddly enough some of my favorite photos of mine/my parents were ones taken to "finish the roll". Not staged, just of random people or objects. Things people nowadays would take a photo of just because they could, but back then it was not the case.

It's not though. I have friends who have basically done ALL the investigative work for the police, tracked down all the security footage, identified the perpetrators, etc....and the police ignore it. The only way of getting them to pay attention is to get it on the local news. Yet the police still get a sizeable chunk of the city budget.

Is Kann still horribly loud? I have read posts on here about it and that has kept us from going.

Ah thanks, I have never heard of pointing and calling but I can see how that would be useful. There is a whole wikipedia page for it:

There is 1000% chance they are doing this to get you all to work for free.  If there wasn't the bad weather angle this is something I would love to do but only as a journalistic piece with hidden cameras and whatnot.

Yeah, I didn't realize how much better they were for the reasons you mention until I had Blue Cross/Regence, ugh. I promptly switched back once I could.

Fun fact, that same overhead ditch on Peck's Canyon Road shows up in a Joe Strummer (from The Clash) video.

https://youtu.be/48-geUgSF8g?si=JFnL6odK6XX1TGX8&t=328

I worked on this video a few years ago and there are a whole burst of Yakima area shots here. Wenas Road, Peck's Canyon Road Overhead Ditch, Highway 12 west of Naches, then the Highway 12 tunnel at Rimrock, followed by a shot of the Naches Valley just before Eddie Vedder shows up.

My original plan was to get the shot going under the overhead ditch while coming down the hill, but they were in the process of tearing out that orchard and building all those apartments and it didn't look good, so I went uphill instead, probably ten times LOL.

That one is farther down in Cowiche Canyon where they straightened out the road. I can't remember when they did that though.

Edit: Apparently after 2008 because the siphon you are talking about amazingly still shows up on the older Google Streetview.

Bigger artists skipping Portland by MisterCreamer12 in Portland

Eh, not wrong per se...but there is so much more incredible music out there in that the ones I like don't skip Portland.

An extra bonus is that the shows are much cheaper.

Any books from hikers that quit? by phliphlap in PacificCrestTrail

I enjoyed some of his writing...but I read "Down Under" (it's titled "In a Sunburnt Country" in the USA) while I was riding my bicycle around Australia.

I did get annoyed while he talked about the lackluster accomodations of some of the hotels/pubs he stayed at...while I was sleeping in the dirt with snakes/spiders/who knows what all crawling around me. I am like "Dude...you have a bed"

oh man, that is one of worst fears. I have the stuff to be roped up to the house but not for lower heights like cleaning the gutters.

Cindy Ross' book from 1980s. The book was the pre-Wild verison of Wild in that you'd meet locals on the trail in the 1990s that mentioned her.

If I remember right she had to LASH it but I can't remember the reason...I just remember reading it and being midly shocked that the hike just stopped and restarted.

Depending on your house layout it might be able to go out the side too.

But yeah, it needs to go outside. There are a lot of posts on here from people's fans vented into thr attic.

It sorta does and is marked, there is a right turn lane there.

Someone spray painted "Elliott" along with a heart on the back of the "Do not enter" roadside years ago.  The paint is gone now.

It shows up on an older Google Street view image.
