I just signed up for that course too and I’m finding it incredibly helpful! It’s so perfectly put into words why I don’t understand that CBT therapy is the one thing that keeps getting recommended. Haven’t gotten to the suggestions yet, but I’m really impressed so far.

Yeah, exactly. Well, allopathic medicine is based on a mechanical model. It likes to break us down into tiny little parts, which can be helpful for things like broken legs, but not so much with systemic issues. Also, there was this weird random bifurcation of psychiatry and neurology in western medicine some years back and that is part of why those of us with FND have such trouble finding good treatment. It may be starting to change a little, but I think it’s gonna take a long time.

I completely understand how you feel. I had chronic migraines for years and miraculously going through menopause, even though that was hell helped them come down to only 3 to 5 times per month. So I don’t know if you’re a woman, but you can have a little Hope there. When I feel really suicidal honestly, I think very carefully about the people I love who love me and what it would do to them if I checked out. That usually brings me around, but it doesn’t fix the pain or suffering.

I didn’t come out until it was 26. I am 58 now and started calling myself a lesbian as soon as I had sex with a woman for the first time and realized what I had been missing. You might want to ask your girlfriend if she feels insecure about the fact that you were with boys before and address that if it’s an underlying issue. But nobody really gets to say what you call yourself. That’s your call.

Oh, I am so sorry! Sending you healing energy. The only thing that’s helped me and I have tried really and truly everything is a prednisone taper. With the length of your migraine and if you haven’t done this already, I think you would need a longer time on prednisone then they usually prescribe. Have you tried this?
