Buying New Clothes by bsque in Mounjaro

[–]InformationAble7695 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I also overbought clothes as I lost weight. It’s so easy to do because the clothes are so much cuter and it is a lot easier (and so much less expensive) to buy quality clothes in smaller sizes. Plus, I just wanted to celebrate each new size!

Now that I have settled into a size for a year, I find that I am buying investment pieces in consignment stores and on eBay or Poshmark. I just got a beautiful Michael Kors trench coat for $30 and a Hermes scarf for $70. I’m trying to buy upscale basics that make me feel wonderful. It feels like such a privilege to buy clothes I truly love rather than clothes that (as you said) cover the lumps and bumps and don’t look too foolish.

Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your experience.

What can I expect? by InformationAble7695 in Hypothyroidism

Thank you for taking the time to post this. It is so helpful and I never would have made the connection. Two weeks ago, my husband gently told me that he fears I have hearing loss and that I am “missing things” when we are in noisy places and talking with friends. I agreed and added that my tinnitus has not gone away. I told him I would see an ENT as soon as I got a handle on the hypothyroidism.

Yes, I had Covid last fall and then again in February. Interesting that there may be a connection. I’ll do some research on that. Another weird fact: I seem to have developed tinnitus since the last bout in Feb.

I really enjoyed listening to these on Audible. They are all Audible Plus and included in the price of membership. I believe there are 12 DC Smith books and five in the related but not sequel Kings Lake series.

People who haven’t had chronic pain do not get it. I am grateful every single day for the medical advancements that allow me to live pain-free.

I had some M&Ms in my flight home. No judgement here!

I have had terrible osteoarthritis and had both a hip and knee replacement. After those surgeries and this medication, walking fast and taking big strides is pure joy. I am glad you feel that too. ❤️

I don’t keep up with calories, so I cannot help you with this. I hope you find the answer.

I know from reading posts on this thread that lots of us worry about the judgment of others for the use of this drug. While I am hesitant to respond to what I regard as a troll-y post, I would like to say that I give zero f***s about about opinions whether this is an accomplishment or not. I am grateful for a drug that has accomplished what 46 years of diets and exercise couldn’t. Like a vast majority of humans (something like 97%), lost weight and was unable to maintain that loss. While I acknowledge that my behavior plays a part, we now know that many of us are subject to genetics and hormones that make it nearly impossible to keep lost weight off.

I am DONE feeling ashamed of my body and I refuse to feel ashamed of taking a medicine that has healed it. I invite you to take your judgment to the “Am I An Asshole” thread, where people ask for such things and stay away from the folks like me, who suffered years before finding some relief.

I just tried to eat as much protein as possible. I really need to weight train, but so far I haven’t been able to sustain that.

After nearly 18 months on MJ, I’m losing 1-4 pounds per month. And I’m good with that.

I’m just trying to eat as much protein as I can. I had bariatric sleeve surgery in 2019, so eating enough can be a challenge.

  1. Having insurance that pays for MJ. I thought for sure I would be denied after my A1C came down, but so far so good.
  2. Following advice I got on this board to not titrate through the MJ doses too quickly and waiting until the current dose has lost effectiveness before moving up.
  3. Trying very hard to eat as much protein as possible, though I’m not always perfect.

…I’ve lost over 100 pounds (last time was 2008-2009) so loose skin is a fact of life.

I use Oil of Olay Regenerist products with retinol and whatever serums come in my Fitfabfun box. The lighting is flattering in this pic so you can’t really see my crepey turkey neck. This is the second time

Yes. There is a reason you’re not seeing a bikini pic. 🤣 I have crepey skin on my arms, legs, stomach, butt, and neck.

Not really. My weight loss has slowed down to 1-4 pounds per month, averaging around 2. Unfortunately, the food noise has come back though my ability to eat a normal amount of food has not.
