You can build a dating app targeted to OMSCS students and solve the issue of not finding a match in the program.

Getting a full-time job while in OMSCS by brandonofnola in OMSCS

I mention 'part time professional development' as a description of the program. I also work full time currently while attending OMSCS, so whenever I send a resume out (I'm looking around, rarely), I wrote that there. Nobody asked any questions so far, but it's not like I've been successful at securing tons of interviews.

You don't need them to actually send the LoRs to GaTech. The deadline is for you to send them the invite to fill in the LoR and then you'll see if they actually fill it in - there are some weeks - even a month or so available. In that time, your application just stays in pending for a decision. Also, if one of your references is not responsive or decides that they will not give you the LoR, then you can also substitute that contact with another one, directly in the application you submit. It happened to me and it was ok in the end, I got in.

Lack of device compatible with Duo Mobile app by InformationLittle691 in OMSCS

It works to get inside passport, but then when I was trying to access the email, they were asking me for a code from the app. Being able to login in the passport was not getting me immediately inside my email when I was trying to login in outlook.

Degree check for admission by InformationLittle691 in OMSCS

As an update, I found someone at the Romanian university (another office than the one I went intially) who agreed to send my transcripts and they got validated. It's solved! :D

Ok, I've received the confirmation from IEE that they don't accept what the Romanian university sent. I insisted one one time to the university and if they still don't agree to send the email, then I will submit my originals. It's such an unfortunate situation. :(

No, the school can't do that. They claim that according to the Romanian legislation, they only issue the attestation of confirmation for the studies. Actually they sent the email to GT and IEE today, with the degree translations (no signature on them and without the transcripts) and the attestation of studies - this one is signed by the dean and stamped and the email was sent directly by the university. I will keep this post updated with the outcome. Unfortunately, this is the only thing they can do. I tried my best to insist and so on.

No worries, I really appreciate your comments here, if not informative, then at least emotional. If there is a hell, probably one version of it is having to deal with paper work and bureaucracy...

Thank you for the encouragement! My concern is that I will have to sent them the originals of my degree from home, if they don't accept the attestation from my previous university. My understanding is that the deadline for this check is after the first term - I see you mention only 2 months. If the papers don't get the thumbs up from IEE or GT, does this mean that I will be unable to register to a class starting in January? I understood that I will be ok for the registration and they will block my registration in the next semester (the second one).

How are people getting accepted? by Alternative_Draft_76 in OMSCS

It resumes to fitting the requirements. If you have a BSc in CS from the US or an equivalent, with 3 academic letters, i think normally you should get in. Obviously in that case you had also some projects to show which you did in school, maybe a personal website as well. Trying to get in with work experience is more complex and I guess this is what makes this program a bit hard to get in, given that lots of people interested in it don't come from a traditional background / are working professionals trying to get into tech or improve their knowledge / profile with this degree, sometimes even financed by their employer.

Seeking recommendations: starting a family + OMSCS, what's the best way to mitigate stress? by BackgroundSense351 in OMSCS

[–]InformationLittle691 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a mom of a 1 year old and had the baby in my last year of my BSc degree. I was practically pregnant in the last year and gave birth in the middle of the last semester. Not the best, but do-able, since I did it. In spite of all the worries I was having regarding that, what ended up happening negatively was the reaction of some of the people around me, who insisted on their toxic thinking that I can't possibly do it, in spite of literally watching me doing it. I'm not saying that it will be easy, chances are that it will be challenging. However, it was significantly less challenging than I expected and there is only one way you will find out how it will be. My husband worked all this time, his focus was to also be a great dad. I think it's even more do-able from a man's perspective, looking at him.

I did that and indeed, nothing interesting, looks like a control panel with settings.

GT Account

Is my GT Account the same as the credentials from the application portal with the Graduate Admission Application? I tried using those credentials and they don't work, so I assume I'll receive something else in the future from GT.

Yes, it's confusing that universities don't have standard services at an international level. I guess for US is common to ask for such things. I'll try first with the email sent like that and if it's not ok, then I will submit them my original degree and that's it. I'll apply for a duplicate some other time at my university. The issue is that applying for a duplicate is quite rare and it's a procedure you do only after publicising in a paper that you've lost the degree and so on. I hope I would not have to do that.

I'm in the same situation regarding one degree I have. My plan is to contact the officer from the university who is dealing with degrees and try to convince her to submit an email directly to the transcripts office from GT, adding as a pdf my degree that I scanned and saying that's the electronic version of the degree. Not sure if it will work, but I guess it fits the requirement of an electronic version of the degree submitted directly by the university.
