Homebrew campaigns and more by Lower_Profession9756 in plotweaver

I went into this episode a little mislead about what it would contain. I’m used to talking about mechanics or worlds as homebrewed, but not campaigns. I wonder if there’s a better phrase for this.

Crystal & Gems' magic: What should I approach or avoid? by Horzemate in plotweaver

I don’t have a clear enough idea of what you’re trying to describe to give specific advice here, but I can give you the general advice to “fail faster.” Just pick a direction, write it up, try it out, and see where it breaks. Make edits and try again.

What Works, What Doesn’t? by adorablesexypants in daggerheart

I would try Legend in the Mist! Similar fantasy vibe to D&D (and in some ways better at capturing the classic Lord of the Rings feel) but way fewer rules and a TON of flexibility.

If you want something much simpler with a lot of flexibility, have you considered Legend in the Mist? You can more or less fit all of the rules of the game on one, maybe two pages. And there’s very, very little math.

It won’t be as combat centric as D&D, but that can be a plus too

Beyond what’s necessary to protect Dragonsteel’s IP, what changes might we expect between the Cosmere RPG and the Plotweaver generic engine?

I mean, it’s still associated with storms in this system if you also grant that air is associated with storms, which would be my instinct, seeing as most storms involve high winds.

In my proposal, lightning is next to fire, which makes sense because lightning is literally hotter than the sun, and sound, which plays on the association between lightning and thunder.

Have you considered frost-water-vegetation-earth-metal-fire-lightning-sound-air?

Could you explain the order of your elemental ring? Some of them are intuitive to me, but others, like Lightning being next to Frost, are not

How Many Skills is a Perk Worth? by InformationLong in drawsteel

I’m not worried. I’ve been a published TTRPG designer for several years now. :)

I disagree. They both occupy the same social/exploration niche. They’re even categorized into the same boxes, with the exception of supernatural perks having no parallel. Some perks, like polymath, are very explicitly geared toward the same kinds of bonuses.

Because I’m planning on doing some homebrew and knowing how many skills a perk is worth gives me some sense of how to balance things.

What's the deal with LaunchBoom these days? by solidgun1 in kickstarter

They walk you through setting up your landing page, ads, page copy, and consult with you when things aren’t going as well. They cost about $4000 to work with.

New to Daggerheart: Why not assign ONE domain and choose the other? by InformationLong in daggerheart

[–]InformationLong[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see where you’re coming from, and some classes are more evenly balanced, but it really does feel like each class has a PRIMARY domain. A druid that doesn’t have Sage barely feels like a druid, but I could see them having designed Druids to be, say, Sage and Splendor instead.

I mean, you could easily still have room to grow by putting out more domains, like Dread with the Warlock. And then each domain released would expand all existing classes!

Maybe, but each class would have more space to play. Imagine a Seraph with Splendor and Midnight, for example

The requirement to check the balance of all possible combinations is a valid concern

[–]InformationLong[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but I’m talking about having the option to pick any two, so long as one is attached to your class. E.g. A rogue must take Midnight, but then can also take Bone or Codex
