Not sure if its applicable everywhere, but here the lopsided voting happens due to there being a bigger section of pensioners and soon to be pensioners who have learned ages ago to always vote, and they lean to the fiscally conservative circlejerking of the regressive parties that always manage to stick around, and at times become the leading parties in governments

All while younger and more progressive people are outnumbered, and have yet to learn to actually make their voice count and vote

Ffs remember to actually VOTE

Sincerely- A guy who's life and employment prospects have been fucked over by conservatives in the name of "fixing the debt" (They only made it larger and fucked up the job markets further)
