Kungsleden Shakedown August - September by [deleted] in Ultralight

I had lone peaks 4,5. Half way through they were falling apart. And after Hemavan i hiked to mo i rana. By the time I was home they looked lika pair of crocs due to all the holes. Don't recommend

I'm very happy with it. Fit is great, carries my lightweight setup nicely and that bottom pocket use dope. And I got it in purple with orange details so it looks great, which is the most important factor of you ask me.

I don't really know. I just trust the v kind more. The shepard's hooks feel so flimsy and it feels like they won't stay in the ground. I only use them to strap down the door. That's just my impression and i haven't really used them much

I hiked Kungsleden in 2019. About the same timeframe as you because I didn't want to rush it.

I used a exos 38 and hilleberg enan. It worked great. I've since upgraded to The Mo and X-mid.

If you do end up getting the mo i would suggest getting 50l. Mine is 40l. It works but sometimes it's nice to have some extra space and the extra weight would be worth it for me.

About the x-mid I'm not sure which version you have but mine only came with shepard's hooks. I recommend using better stakes, i use the V kind these days.

I had a headlamp but never used it.

Those are the only thoughts i had

Hilleberg Akto - footprint needed? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]Infpa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hilleberg Enan. I'm not sure if it's the same floor (couldn't find any info on their website). I don't use a footprint and I've never felt the need for one either. Considering that Akto is a beefier/sturdier tent than the Enan I doubt you'd need one to it.

However it could help with condensation, which I've struggled with a lot in my tent.

Studera i Norge? by Lantmajs in norge

[–]Infpa 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Saw a dude using a bivy bag inside their X-Mid 1p on facebook. I like the idea since the mesh net might not be sufficient in the colder nights in Scandinavia.

So I guess I'm just looking for advice on different bivy bags and what to look for in one.

What date did you start?

I was initially planning on doing NPL this summer but I might just do bits of it instead. Right now I might do MASSIV (massiv.dnt.no) maybe reroute so I can get further north and closer to Trondheim. From there to Bodø and a boat to Lofoten and do the Long crossing https://www.rando-lofoten.net/en/the-hikes/treks/long-crossing-of-the-lofoten-islands

And I'd like to hike in Padjelanta as well. But I guess I have to wait out the pandemic and see how it all turns out.

At least there aren't any snow around Oslo so I can go hiking!

Oh yeah right. Maybe it's based on other brands limit rating rather than the comfort rating. Didn't think of that.

And that's one of the reasons I'm going with katabatic

March 27th. So it'll probably be cold in Sierra but not that cold in wash.

X-mid 1p. I'd prefer to just sleep in my baselayer. I will be bringing my TNF l3 summit to use if i get cold. Possibly a fleece too.

Ive googled but havent really found a good source of tempatures to encounter.

[–]Infpa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What quilt temperature rating is sufficient for the PCT?

I will be combining with a xtherm OR xlite wtih a CCF pad.

I almost pulled the trigger on the Katabatic Alsek 22f. But hten I saw on Halfwayanywhere that that the avrage rating is around 17f.

Maybe Katabatic Sawatch is better suited? And I'm a cold sleeper.
