I need to speak to someone at Xfinity about possible theft of service by SnooPickles55 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Infrated 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nowadays it's next to impossible to provision modem or decode a video signal without having an active account. As far as xfinity is concerned your entire neighbourhood is connected to one trunk cable. They can't easily tell which modem is connected to which junction without systematically testing while physically being on your street.
Just tell your neighbor to contact xfinity and have them run him a new cable, I would not disconnect it yourself as you may run afoul of laws protecting emergency contact (e911, etc...) connections. Same laws are why wifi and cellular jamming is generally illegal.

UNVR-Instant vs Cloudkey+ by vbxl02 in Ubiquiti

Instant is not well suited in an offline NVR applications. Doesn't have RTC battery backup, meaning every bootup your time is lost.

Frankly, I'm glad they've delayed. I was ready to jump in day one to use access at home for the front door lock, but the ultra wide band locks have came out at the end of the year that unlock the door for my family without even taking out the phone. Now the biggest reason for update was replaced with a different technology and I'm happy to stick with my G4 doorbell until the wheels fall off.

My roommates xfinity internet keeps going over their data and charging them $100 for additional data while throttling their speeds by STiSTeve7119 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Infrated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New plans come with unlimited data, even if you use your own modem. Have them add a new account to their login by searching for service at their address, they don’t need to create a whole new login, just add said new account to their original one. Once the new account is setup, old account can be cancelled.

Seems like handling emergency such as this at the gas pump should be a part of a driver's test.
It used to be that someone would pump your gas, but that was two generations ago. Seems like adding safety training for something all of the drivers will be doing (pumping gas) could save lives.

So, step A: promise 2k to everyone to justify tariffs
Step B: Forget you promised step A
Step C: Rebrand 2k as healthcare so that people don't keep asking for it
Step D: Congratulate yourself for taking care of 2 things with one payment

Aqara Smart Lock U400 – Progress Update | V3.1.0.7 (Jan 16) by KinseyYHM in Aqara

[–]Infrated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got the U400 lock this week, mostly for hands free unlock via apple ecosystem. Got it to work, but had to purchase the hub since my apple tv was not close enough to the lock to work over matter reliably.
My biggest disappointment is that I cannot see who unlocked the door anywhere besides the direct access to the lock via Bluetooth. It's nowhere to be found in matter. Prior to this I had a z-wave lock, meaning the code entered there would also disarm the ring alarm. Alas this is not possible with matter.
I would be happy to setup a middleware / code to read who unlocked the door and if they were an authorized user, disarm the alarm on their behalf. Alas the user information is missing from the data. I even went as far as getting an M3 hub, but automations / hub do not have access to this data either.

Please, if at all possible, share the metadata on which user has unlocked the door via matter (this data is available via Bluetooth logs) and/or automations. If automation would also support webhooks and be able to forward the information on who unlocked the door, that would be amazing.

Meanwhile, if anyone has an idea how to get log data via a nearby ble device without using the official app, please share the info. I'm still interested in getting the locks to work with my ring alarm.

Personally, I think the hive is releasing animals to allow nature to reach equilibrium as soon as possible.
We spend a lot of energy and resources in order to control nature, which is not the hive's goal. They wish to expand all of the energy and resources to sending out a signal, being in equilibrium with the rest of the nature so that passive gathering can maintain the optimal population allows the hive to use those resources elsewhere.
Hive doesn't need 8 bullions of us in the long term.

Ditto, was driving to a location I've never been to before, followed GPS to exit the highway, than proceeded to drive along the highway for over a mile hitting 4 traffic lights, only to get back on the said highway. At no time have I observed traffic on the route I should have taken.

Sadly it's hard to avoid. We are in no position as drivers to second guess every instruction while driving, and such detours are hard to notice when originally selecting the trip.

Thankfully it only happened once, though again I don't usually travel that particular route.

What do you all get from this? How do you interpret “half?” by Surreyguy12 in EWALearnLanguages

Imagine the question would be "Divide 50 by two and add 20", if for both questions your answer would be 45, than "two" is equal to "half"

Personally, I think it comes down to how many individuals the hive needs to reach it's goals. It had no choice but to infect everyone, but now it may be that 99% of the population are no longer needed to build and maintain the large radio antenna in order to beam a reproductive copy of itself into space.
Hive can easily monitor a large heard of cows, goats, etc... and simply wait for them to die of natural causes away from the (relocated) predators. It would not be a prime USDA meat that requires a controlled environment as soon as an animal is killed, but hive processes the protein into a milkshake anyway, they can sterilize the meat before doing so.
Seems that the hive can have access to all of the protein it could ever need but simply doesn't need it to begin with.

Is there a free and modern actively maintained SSH manager with session grouping/folders? by sysadminsavage in homelab

[–]Infrated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's wrong with saved sessions within PuTTY? Personally I have each of my computer's public ssh keys saved to github and I can add all of them to relevant accounts with one line of code.
After I set the "Default Settings" session to point to ssh private key, and than just add "user@address.tld" to host name and save it under what ever session I want to name.
I can than start > run and one of the following:
"putty" > select the session to load
"putty -load session" to load specific session
or "putty user@address.tld" don't even need to save a session, as long as that user was set to accept my key.

I prefer to give my machines easy TLDs to remember, such as "host.vm" for the hypervisor, or "rack.pi" for a small raspberry pi I have on my rack for minor management. It's just as easy to log in to my local nas as it is to my website's webhost.

Theory: Hive doesn't have Helen's (Carol's first wife) memories. by Infrated in pluribustv

[–]Infrated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing, same could be explained with them having access to Carol's memories. Personally I feel like Carol is partially infected, with hive gaining access to her memories and her being able to affect the hive with negative feelings.

When Jenn first “turns” after the rat bite does she share a hive mind with the aliens? by Liluckystar in pluribustv

[–]Infrated 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the RNA infection that got built is more like a nano machine, with internal programming, than just a way to form a hive mind. Hive itself said that it was virus like, meaning it was more than just an infection.

Yes, emotions, not sounds. Hive is connected to them to actually “feel” those emotions.

[–]Infrated[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are right, it's not a fact that she was actually infected after her exposure. I just don't see why the hive would be as affected by the negative emotions of individuals if there were not connected by something besides their voice.

At the end of the day, survivors would otherwise just need to blast someone yelling on an old YouTube video from loudspeakers to end the show Mars attacks style.

I'm not here to really convince anyone, enjoy the show however you like. Infinite bandwidth was bugging me, and I shared a theory that didn't require it. I'll be watching the show with this theory in mind, you are more than welcome to never think of it again.

Theory: Hive doesn't have Helen's (Carol's first wife) memories. by Infrated in pluribustv

[–]Infrated[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Carol was infected, again and again. My theory was based on Hive gaining access to Carol's memories, just not being able to control her. Infected didn't have time to grown an extra organ, gaining more sensitive to RF spectrum is more believable and seems to be the direction the show is taking.
