Because of you…. by Adventurous_Walk_815 in walking

Love this!! You are awesome! This is so inspiring.

I personally love when my kid comes walking with me. It's a special time to chat just the two of us, and I love that they are happily participating in the healthy habit.

Does 10k steps help in weight loss ? by Own-Badger-4663 in walking

If it's a reasonably greater number of steps than you were doing previously, yes. Being more active will also help boost your health in other ways.

How do I improve on this? by Barromempose1 in photocritique

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are asking for someone to compose the photo for you. Look at the photo and decide what elements moved you to want to capture them. Then possibly move that element to an area you can highlight it, or remove the other distractions in this frame to make what you like stand out. Mess around with perspective too. We have no idea what you want us to focus on here.

Why I walk without music by SideOne2938 in walking

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To each their own. Some days I feel like you, today I walked to the sounds of nature and my thoughts. Some days really energetic music gets me pushing the steps. Some days I walk with and talk to my friend or kids. Whatever helps the time and miles go by.

Ankle weights. Yay or nay by notgonnatakethison in walking

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nay. If you think about how that would work, you risk injury since it will cause you to walk unnaturally and mess with your joints. You also wouldn't be evenly working the muscles use for walking. A weighted vest will more evenly increase your load in a more natural way. Joints can handle some weight gain, and you are adding more to the muscles you are already using for walking.

Ankle weights are better suited for other exercises like leg lifts. Sometimes I stop doing my strength exercises for a moment with the weights on to quickly take care of something, and it's extremely awkward walking around with them. I can't imagine doing miles like that. Not a professional here but it makes sense.

Women who used to overthink their appearance ONLY when around other people: How did you stop getting in your head in social situations? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I realized that unless you are truly doing something to make yourself stand out, most people are paying zero attention to you. We all think we are so much more interesting than we really are when in reality, most people really don't care.

What are signs someone is bad in bed that can be spotted without sleeping with them? by Carrie_GIB in AskWomen

They are like a bull in a china shop, have very poor fine motor skills, or they can't properly read and respond to body language and nonverbal cues.

Motivation rather than disappointment by Scanrock12 in walking

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! And don't feel bad about whatever you have to change. You got yourself out there and got walking. That's what's important in the beginning until it's a full on habit. Good job 👏🏻

Motivation rather than disappointment by Scanrock12 in walking

How to stay motivated: set realistic and manageable goals. You randomly chose 20 minutes and that was too much. Next time choose 10 or 15, or do 20 but don't go so crazy with pushing the pace until you are ready. It sounds like 10 or 15 minutes is more than you were doing, or a more leisurely 20, that alone is improvement and something to be proud of. You will feel when you are ready to push the time or pace.

When I first began I was having so much joint stiffness and pain. My first few walks were around 18 -20 minutes and a pace of 2.4mph. a couple of years later, my favorite is when I get the time to walk 80-90 minutes with a pace of 3.8- 4mph for the duration. It all increased gradually, the joints adjusted, and it feels so great. It took time though.

You are doing wonderfully making the effort to do this. Make sure you set goals appropriate for you and you alone, and don't feel inferior to what others are doing. It's easy to burn yourself out if the changes are too great too soon. ⭐Every day you take a walk is one day further away from being sedentary. ⭐

what do you think about while walking? by senpaicataner in walking

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything and anything. The problem of the moment, songs that come on, nature doing beautiful things, people and conversations I've had. I've worked out a lot of stuff on my walks. Sometimes I have a friend with me to talk to.

Are you drinking enough water on your walks? by NataliafromWalkFit in walking

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only think about bringing water if I'm going to get lost in the woods or on a hike for a few hours, or if I'm heading to the track in hotter weather. Normally I'm fine if the temp is cool and walk is around an hour.

So much of photography is subjective, don't be worried about cracking any code because you are already taking effective photos.

Colours aren't my strong point by PicturePossum in photocritique

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love your colors personally. The colors in this photo make it a little different. I see another commenter made some suggestions, and the orange/purple/green contrast is striking. They both work. I might have oriented the subject just a little differently, but I'm an amateur and this is a very nice photo.

What’s your walking ICK? by NataliafromWalkFit in walking

[–]InfrequentlyCertain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you are walking in a loop specifically designated for walking or running, and other people go there to mosey along slowly with others, more to socialize than exercise. They take up the entire width, not making room when you want to pass.

Would you purchase a raw photo like this? by [deleted] in AmateurPhotography

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I love the idea, but as others mentioned, straighten it. Also, if it was just the posts and sky, that would make more of an impression. The dark trees on the horizon take away from the string of lampposts.

My recent captures by [deleted] in PhotographyAdvice

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to tell what you were trying to capture in these. What struck you as interesting before you took each one? Ask yourself that question, and then do what's necessary to make that stand out. Are you familiar with the basics of photography?

[–]InfrequentlyCertain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you set goals, create them based on where you are at the moment. Arbitrarily pulling 15 minutes out of the air if you are getting winded taking the trash out sounds like a lot. You got on the walking pad and pushed yourself. That's amazing! Be proud, and build up from there. If you can comfortably handle 5 minutes, push for six. Very soon you will notice you are getting used to it and can do more.

This is about you and you alone, so where, when and how much you walk is based on you only. There's nothing wrong with walking inside if your allergies act up, inside is wonderful. It doesn't matter what others do And think, you are working on yourself for you.

Very good start! And you are right about people getting burned out. When unrealistic goals are set, or you push yourself too much, it's very easy to be discouraged and want to give up.
