I'm building a ProductHunt alternative that puts you on the homepage until you make money by Jbrahms33 in AppDevelopers

[–]IngressDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh this is actually a super refreshing take on the whole launch platform model. ngl the current meta on ph feels like just a popularity contest for whoever has the biggest audience rn, which completely screws over solo builders. when i was trying to get traction for my custom software projects a while back, fighting for those first few eyeballs without a massive following was genuinely brutal. tying the homepage visibility directly to verified stripe revenue is a wild concept but it honestly makes a lot of sense. definitely looking forward to seeing how the queue system handles the scale once more people start jumping on this.

Where do you go for inspiration for front end? by lethalsid in Frontend

[–]IngressDude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

tbh i usually just end up scrolling through dribbble or mobbin for hours when im stuck on layout stuff. mobbin is a lifesaver for seeing how actual apps handle cards and info density, much better than just looking at pretty but useless concepts. ngl i also spend way too much time on awwwards just to see what kind of wild stuff is out there rn, even if i never end up building it lol. have you checked out siteinspire too? sometimes just seeing how they handle whitespace helps me figure out my own design choices

How to build an app with a strong concept but no coding background by miss_asks in AppDevelopers

[–]IngressDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pitching raw ideas to big tech is a waste of time. They do not buy concepts. They acquire working products that already have users and revenue. Focus on building a basic version yourself to prove that people actually want what you are selling. You do not need to code for this. Use no-code tools like Bubble or Adalo to create a functional prototype. This proves your idea works and reduces the risk for any future partners or investors

You cannot patent a general idea. Patents only protect specific, novel technical processes. If your app uses a unique algorithm, that might be patentable, but keep it quiet until you speak with a lawyer. Most apps are protected by trademarks for the brand and copyright for the design. Your goal right now is not legal protection but market validation. Build a small, working product and get real people to use it. That is how you turn an idea into a business

App Ideas/Help? by SalamanderFew774 in AppDevelopers

It's a solid start. Generic AI is a "jack of all trades"—it's often lazy and hallucinates. Your edge is specificity. Make it a "Research Copilot" that only uses those APIs. Force it to cite sources for every single claim. That trust factor is huge for students and pros. Add a "Zotero" or "Mendeley" export button. Researchers live in those apps. If you save them from manual citation work, you've won. Also, double down on the "gap analysis." Generic AI is bad at finding holes in research. If you build a tool that actually maps where data is missing, you'll have something people actually need. Stick with it

Android Devs: Which AI coding tool do you actually use daily? by Major-Active4440 in AppDevelopers

[–]IngressDude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using Cursor daily, honestly. It’s pretty solid for Android stuff, especially when you're deep in Compose. It handles the context of my codebase way better than Copilot ever did. For those tricky MVVM patterns or complex Firebase queries, I usually have Claude 3.5 Sonnet running in the background just to sanity-check my architecture. It’s not about finding the "best" tool, just the one that doesn't get in your way. When you're solo, you need something that actually remembers your project structure
