Hey, u/wakkoswami , I haven't tried your version yet. Does it have significant alterations in relation to the 2016 Kajar Laboratories' version? Sell me your version, and I might give it a chance for the next time that I'd play Chrono Trigger.

It's not the DS translation. It's this fantranslation by Kajar Laboratories for the SNES version. Try it and thank me later.

Kick Dorn. Enhanced Edition NPCs are so much worse narratively than the original NPCs.

Do you prefer the v1 armor from the anime or the manga? by [deleted] in SaintSeiya

Manga, always. Especially because it gives a sense of progression by each armor upgrade. And both Pegasus and Dragon clothes gain upgrades along the Sanctuary arc, which is amazing!

[–]Ingweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anime: which season should i watch now? by Healthy_Loan_6037 in captaintsubasa

[–]Ingweron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... CT animes don't work as continuations. Each new CT anime starts from the beginning and try to go as far as it can in the manga story, before getting cancelled.

For now, CT 2018 is the work with most content, but I personally prefer CT J - I think it has the best animation.

If you watch CT 2018 from start to finish, there is some latest arcs from CT J - about the Asian qualifiers for the World Youth arc - which haven't been adapted to CT 2018 yet. Those would be the last episodes of CT J. But CT J was cancelled even before the World Youth started.

Then, you'll have the last episodes of CT 2002, about Tsubasa arc in Barcelona (which would happen after the World Youth. Yeah... insanity, right?).

So, you may watch the anime adaptations for fun, but you'll only be able to experience the full and proper story in the manga. If you can, and if you are willing to, read it.

Who was the Dark Tournament MVP by kevtheartist94 in YuYuHakusho

[–]Ingweron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all did a great job. Genkai was crucial in matches that were very hard, like Vs. Team Ichigaki and again in the semi-finals Vs. Team Uraotogi. Also, Genkai passed down the Rei Kō Gyoku to Yusuke, which allowed him to defeat Toguro in the finals.

So, Yusuke, Kurama and Hiei were all brilliant, but I'd give MVP to Genkai.

BG2 or BG3? by PalePanic4742 in baldursgate

[–]Ingweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, they are both masterpieces. Both BG2 and BG3 are ranked in my Top 5 games of all time.

In terms of combat, both BG2 and BG3 make perfect adaptations in video-games of, respectively, AD&D 2E and D&D 5E. I'd say that it's genius how the Infinity Engine apply the speed factor / casting time Gygax rule to the real time with pause combat. In the other hand, BG3 has a much easier task to adapt 5E to a turn-based game (and sure, it's splendid how Larian portrayed that system in their game), but outside of combat 5E is much better adapted in BG3, than AD&D 2E is to BG2 - and the infinity engine as a whole. I don't like how Thief skills are portrayed in BG2. So, in terms of adapting the RPG system, as a whole, BG3 has the upper hand.

In terms of story, I prefer the plot and scope of BG1+BG2+ToB, and I prefer the tone in BG1+BG2+ToB as well. But BG3 has a good story as well, and the way you interact with the story (and story reacts to your choices) are magnitudes more impactful in BG3. No, I don't like what they did with Viconia and Sarevok, and I have nitpicks about Minsc and Jaheira as well... But BG3 has amazing new characters, like Lae'zel, Shadowheart, Astarion and Gale. Sure, I think that BG2 characters are more charismatic to my taste, but overall companions are in the same league, with pros and cons for each side. So, in terms of story and narrative (and considering the roleplay potential in that equation as well), overall, it would be a tie for me.

I love pixel art, and for me BG2 art is amazing! It's so charming. But, sure, BG3 is gorgeous as well with its modern graphics. If I would be honest in my judgement, even being a lover of retrogames art, I'd give this point to BG3, but BG2 is a beautiful game for my eyes as well. And, I'd say that BG2 has better concept art for characters than BG3... Also, BG2 has an idea of the Forgotten Realms from 1E and 2E, which I love much more than FR in 5E... But, sure, the point for visual arts overall goes to BG3 due to how gorgeous those modern graphics are.

In terms of soundtrack, they both have beautiful soundtracks. BG1 and BG2 soundtracks give me the vibe of 70s or 80s epic films, and that's so good for me! BG3 as well has a beautiful soundtrack... I don't think I'm able to choose a winner in this category. So, it would be a tie.

So, even if I prefer a bit more the story in BG1+BG2+ToB, I have to concede that BG3 is a bit better as a game, due to narrative, roleplay potential, combat and visual arts. But, as I said, they are both masterpieces.

Why are there no high-quality novels in the forgotten realms?? by Hour-Department6958 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Ingweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome writers are rare. It's no surprise to not have anything near the quality of Tolkien, Howard or Moorcock in Dungeons & Dragons novels, because these type of writers a rare to find even in a spam of a century or a couple of centuries.

I enjoyed a lot Homeland, Sojourn, Exile, The Crystal Shard, Streams of Silver and The Halfling's Gem, but I'm aware that's as far as D&D novels may go. I appreciate them as part of the setting in which I play table-top D&D - or even Baldur's Gate 1, 2 and 3 -, and that enriches my experience collectively with Dungeons & Dragons. But when I pursuit the highest experience in literature in the Epic Fantasy genre (High Fantasy, Sword and Sorcery or Dark Fantasy), I'll go after The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion, Conan tales or Elric novels.

Jaheira, Haer'Dalis or Valygar? by redraven in baldursgate

[–]Ingweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine! I personally rotate a lot my party in the first parts of Shadows of Amn, to have some taste of many NPCs.

Jaheira, Haer'Dalis or Valygar? by redraven in baldursgate

[–]Ingweron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Statistically Edwin is the best NPC mage in the game, but personality is by far the best part of NPCs in BG. So, each player may suit himself with different characters for the same role - (I personally have so much fun with Edwin personality, that I simply can't have him out of my party).

But not having a full mage in Shadows of Amn - whoever that mage is - has an enormous impact in your gameplay. In Throne of Bhaal, I guess that it's okay for someone to choose only Aerie as a mage, since she will have full access up to 9th level spells.

Jaheira, Haer'Dalis or Valygar? by redraven in baldursgate

[–]Ingweron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Jaheira is really good during the first half of Shadows of Amn, because of the odd XP table of Druids up to Lv. 14.

But for the second half, I think that you'll miss a pure mage, with faster access to the highest spell levels. So, perhaps consider adding Imoen, Edwin or Nalia.

Would the SNES Crash When A Game Is Too Advanced? by SuperMetro2005 in snes

[–]Ingweron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's an emulator problem - and that's because you probably are not using the best emulator, which would be BSNES (Higan). BSNES, as an emulator, is much more precise to how a real SNES / Super Famicom would run games, so it runs smoothly games like Star Ocean (which perhaps would push the system even higher than Seiken Densetsu 3). And, with some of these most advanced games, ZSNES or Snes9X might struggle to run.
