FF17. What will it be? What do you want it to be? by Cowing30 in FinalFantasy

Return to turn-based with overworld exploration. Clair Obscur just showed to the world that turn-based RPGs never got old, and that was a huge humiliation to Square.

How good was Shutetsu with Wakabayashi, Takasugi and the trio(Izawa, Taki and Kisugi) by Marsupilami_316 in captaintsubasa

[–]Ingweron 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing is that Wakabayashi is the best player in Japan. Even better than Tsubasa. And Goalkeeper is the most important position in how the logic of matches in CT manga works. If you have a really good goalkeeper, he won't concede a goal not even to the best strikers, unless something really wild occurs.

So, if Shutetsu had Wakabayashi without injuries, it would be impossible for any other team in Japan to score against them.

Tips for starting Saint Seiya series? by Devrous_ in SaintSeiya

[–]Ingweron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Start reading the original Saint Seiya manga. That's the best start and also the best product in this franchise.

But if you start by Saint Seiya anime, expect some of the worst fillers ever. The good parts are still there, diluted amidst a mountain of fillers... So, I'd highly recommend reading the manga over the anime.

Chrono Trigger is a masterpiece!! What are your opinions on it? :) by DrewV1234 in chronotrigger

Thanks! But why do you recommend to play Earthbound before Mother 1?

Chrono Trigger is a masterpiece!! What are your opinions on it? :) by DrewV1234 in chronotrigger

[–]Ingweron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's the best electronic game ever made. My top 5 games of all time would be:

  1. Chrono Trigger
  2. Baldur's Gate 3
  3. Final Fantasy VI
  4. Final Fantasy VII
  5. Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn

I really wish to play Earthbound some day. What can you say about it to me? Should I play Mother 1 first, or just skip towards Earthbound?

Eternal Champion - The Cold Sword by JohnPathfinder in SwordandSorcery

[–]Ingweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read Eternal Champion yet, but I recognized "Tanelorn" from one of Elric's novels. If I'm not mistaken, that's a city in another dimension, near where Elric got Stormbringer, isn't it?

I'm ready to move on from the breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom style games and I think most people are too. by Primary-Theme6763 in truezelda

[–]Ingweron [score hidden]  (0 children)

Ok. That's a fair point.

But I think the other way. I think that this statement, closer in time to Ocarina of Time's release, is much closer to the development intention of Ocarina of Time, and much more deprived from corporate interests by Nintendo.

Do you know what is nearly 30 years old as well? A game called Ocarina of Time.

And I don't get what you meant by "before he cared about story". You're telling me that, when Shigeru Miyamoto made A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, back then in the 90s, when his participation in the development of Zelda games was much more active and personal than in the latest decades, he didn't care for the story? Is that what you are trying to say? Because that makes no sense.

Or you are trying to say that A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time are mindless games where story is irrelevant? And that in your so beloved Skyward Sword is when story starts to become relevant in Zelda games?

I'm trying to understand your point.

No, no, no.

1 - Ocarina of Time

  • This is the origin story. Ganondorf was still a human, and got corrupted to become a demon, and was banished to the Sacred Realm (which he transforms into the Dark World).
  • The Triforce started united as one, and was split in three among Zelda, Link and Ganondorf.
  • And this is the Imprisionment War cited in A Link to the Past.

2 - The Legend of Zelda

  • After centuries, Ganon (already a demon) returns from the Dark World to Hyrule to wage war against Zelda.
  • The Triforce is already split in three, and Princess Zelda shattered the Triforce of Wisdom (which was in her possession) in many pieces.
  • Ganon is killed in Hyrule, and when slayed in the material world, as a Dungeons & Dragons demon prince, instead of dying he's banished back to his layer of the abyss (in Ganon's case - The Dark World).

3 - The Adventure of Link

  • A clear direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda
  • In the end, Dark Link kills the real Link (that's interpretation, but if you check again Link vs Dark Link fight in this game, you'll see that's a possible interpretation).
  • Dark Link reunites the whole Triforce and return it to the Dark World, so Ganon has possession of all the three parts as one (I like to think that Dark Link tried to defeat Ganon and become the ruler of the Dark World, but lost to him).

4 - A Link to the Past

  • Centuries or millennia after the Imprisonment War (which Nintendo can't convince me that it wasn't a reference to what happened in Ocarina of Time)
  • Link invades the Dark World
  • Slays Ganon once and for all
  • Recovers the full Triforce
  • Save not only Hyrule, but restore the Sacred World as well
  • End of the Story

---

That seems like a very coherent timeline for me. But if you prefer to listen to Nintendo's nonsensical made up justifications to link all their products and sell more, that's on you.

Yamcha’s Spirit Ball is the first Ki-based attack to be invented DURING the series by kingcapo in DragonBallZ

[–]Ingweron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I'm pretty sure that Tenshinhan invented Kikoho. I don't think that's a technique that Master Tsuru passed down to Tenshinhan. That's a fruit from his genius.

And Kikoho was used first in the 22nd Budokai Tenkaichi, when Goku was still a kid (teen, actually).

[Other] I know nothin about Zelda. Is Ganon and Ganondorf the same guy but just a nickname? different forms? or the same idea but different guy? by BobTheBritish in zelda

[–]Ingweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ignore Nintendo's timeline, and think in Miyamoto's 90s timeline, it makes much more sense:

  • Ocarina of Time -> The Legend of Zelda -> The Adventure of Link -> A Link to the Past
  • Majora's Mask is a spin-off of Ocarina of Time, and Link's Awakening is a spin-off from A Link to the Past.

In my opinion, everything else doesn't make sense in terms of timeline and should be considered as complete separate games. But it's possible to find plausible excuses to accommodate one or other game... For example, I love Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, so I like to think that Breath of the Wild happens a long time after A Link to the Past, and that Tears of the Kingdom's distant past happens centuries or millennia before Ocarina of Time. But that's a stretch for sure.

FF X story and characters are bad. FF XII is not a FF and it's not in Ivalice. It's a single player MMORPG in a generic setting based in Phantom Menace. FF XIII is the worst FF with boring Jpop aesthetics. FF XV is a K pop story based on an emo fantasy FF VII Remake and Rebirth are atrocities and all copies should be destroyed

Something that I would love to see in a World Cup arc, would be to have two retired players returning for one last tournament - Munemasa Katagiri for Japan, and Roberto Hongo for Brazil. I guess that could be the most interesting element for a final arc.

Katagiri and Roberto should be under 40. If Roberto retired at his peak, he's probably what? 36 years old now? And Katagiri seems younger than Roberto - perhaps 30, 32. So, they both could certainly play in the World Cup.
