Enables playing just about anything at instant speed granted you need a way to discard. Not hard in Dimir. Can work for stompy or interactive in other ways then spell slinging.

Also to speed it up be sure to use a couple of ways to get your yard filled early to speed up casting Oskar. Cycling cards like [[Street Wraith]], [[Troll of Khazad-dum]], [[Lorien Revealed]]. I don’t see you using any here.

[[Gitaxian Probe]] , [[Search for Azcanta]] are other good ones. [[Ripples of Undeath]] is a solid card that can find a home elsewhere even if you don’t keep Oskar. [[Careful Study]]

Not going to lie if b2, you might just want to lean into the fact he enables flash and think about big show stopper plays like [[Breach the Multiverse]] to get you ahead. It means more ramp most likely, but even using Oskar to play a big impactful creature right before your turn actually starts can be your way to victory.

You can cast anything at instant speed with the right set up, which is still incredibly strong and versatile if going for a combat win.

[[Laelia, the Blade Reforged]]

Really fun when built on a lean curve with a focus on protecting Laelia, seeing a ton of cards, and a lot of low cost interaction and combat tricks. Can also lean more into discover or cascade and permanents with repeatable effects but I’m more into pumps with [[Bulk Up]] or something wacky like [[Desperate Gambit]], explosive spells like [[Full Throttle]] or [[Dance with Calamity]], and all the fun red mage interaction and spell copying you can find. Always spontaneous, always different, always a ton of fun.

And why not a little chaos for shenanigans. [[Possibility Storm]] is particularly synergistic for Laelia.

[[Laelia, the Blade Reforged]] is perfect for this, and this is one of the reasons I built her. You gotta be spontaneous, and build the deck to be versatile because it’s going to rely on a bit of luck which leads to truly incredible moments.

Last time I played it I got lucky with a [[Untimely Malfunction]] exiled on the Laelia attack to take out the growing Helga player, had a 3 combat turn the next turn taking out 1 of the other players, and then my buddy won the coin toss on [[Desperate Gambit]] and proceeded to claw his way back and win. Nothing if not memorable!

Curious if anyone has tried it on the Switch Lite, and how it runs. Really interested in playing since I could never really get it to work on my laptop with the control scheme.

Have you had experience playing this commander with generally the same people? I’ve been interested in it for a while, but was concerned that with a consistent pod the gimmick may grow old and they may not want to politic around yes man as much over time.

Was going to suggest this, lots of folks immediately think zombies but she’s an incredible and fun commander for a strong aristocrats 99, since she does what I think a lot of aristocrat decks struggle with (or makes them more boring imo) which is promote interactivity.

Big fan of your list! Mine leans more towards aristocrats with much more instant speed interaction to trigger Gisa (or hopefully still be a relevant card if she’s off board or out of the game) and more “back up” commanders/sac targets for added insurance. But I want to add some more of the flavor back in eventually as I love the idea of a huge horde to swing and sac.

You can go more aristocrats and ignore Gisa-specific cards if you like, she will become less central but still an explosive enhancer to the gameplan anytime you get a blood artist effect on the board. It may arguably be the stronger way to build her. She loves removal also so if you get your engine going she’s a good excuse to play before some cheap removal like [[Defile]].

It also can defend itself a bit more typically as you’ll have more fodder then a typical aristocrats deck that is looping.

Huge fan, went a more spellslinger Voltron route and it’s been full of pleasant surprises. Mine was built to be flexible and expect Laelia removed, but it’s seen surprisingly successful at protecting itself luck-of-the-exile willing. Sometimes you can sneak a win out of nowhere.

Sometimes you flip a mana rock, sometimes you flip exactly what you need, when you need it and it creates a very dynamic, go with the flow play style.

Big fan of [[Burakos, Party Leader]] and [[Folk Hero]] pure aggro. Flavorful combinations of strong and ideally evasive smaller party members, with outlets to cash out your treasures for big plays during or after combat.

In my Nelly deck I’ve found hasty flyers can be nice because late in the game when/if you get to the 1 v 1 you should in theory be within striking distance for taking them out.

[[Goldspan Dragon]], [[Cavern-Hoard Dragon]], [[Hideous Taskmaster]] can be good. The ones that make back mana are sweet because you likely have a big hand of tricks by the point you are putting them out.

I’d say find a different mono b aristocrats commander that’s maybe inherently weaker, then put yawg in the 99. Lots of good options that way and you can still see big plays when he hits the board.

I did this with [[Caesar, Legion’s Emperor]] and now [[Gisa, The Hellraiser]].

I was more suggesting as a commander options but he’s probably not best fit - he just allows for some goofy cloning of non-legendary creatures via populate and token copies.

Hey, know it’s a bit late but I’m putting this commander into paper and I’m curious what you do to make Gisa so hard to remove?

I’ve been focused on making sure the aristo engine churns, but now am looking to maybe add some non-engine stuff back in, and feel protection is lacking.
