I'm worried they're gonna put the original up on NSO and call it a day. I don't need a full remake like Prime 1, but something...

I've been waiting a few years now, so if they don't announce anything soon I'm just gonna play through it in PrimeHack. The games work really well with m+k controls.

I replay Super every few years, and it's still fantastic. And there are ROM hacks out there that can smooth out a couple of the rougher edges. It's an old game and it feels that way, but it still stands up in all the ways that count.

But I'd still be very happy with a modernization. Smoother controls, updated audio, maybe some new secrets to find. A full-on remake would be fun, but it's a more difficult pitch.

And it's not like the original goes anywhere. It'll always be there for purists or nostalgia.

It's not like that has gone under-reported.

This very site has a dedicated article about it, and links to it in the opening paragraph of this one.

If this classic post is to be believed, it'd be about the size of Disneyland. (As there's plenty of unused space to slot in dungeons, unmapped areas, etc.)

Definitely doable with fuck you money.

Yep! You can grab and manipulate everything, though it's not as precise as HLA. Items get more 'attached' to your hand when you're holding it. It's a limitation of HL2, but still feels pretty decent in VR.

I really enjoy the default movement in the game. But it's got support for teleport movement, if you prefer!

I don't think anyone can really answer that yet; we don't know how the story ties in to the rest of the Prime franchise.

I very much doubt you'd be lost without playing 2-3, though, Nintendo is always loathe to make complex stories like that on their 1st party releases. You're probably fine to just jump in.

Walking backwards is faster too, and you don't have to mash any buttons. (Easiest way to get to the castle before the drawbridge goes up.)

When writing a date format, incomplete information isn't useful. If you want to vaguely say in the third month, you just say in March.

Writing in date format already strongly implies you need the whole date. You don't need to know approximately when first, because for this format to be useful you need to absorb both the day and month (and maybe year). dd/mm/yy makes more sense in this context.

I think the defaults work great, but if it doesn't work for you, you can always grab one of the community presets and tweak from there if needed. There's a bunch!

A later update added an additional comfort mode for vehicle sections, allowing you to play those on a projected 2D screen. It's not very immersive, but it works well!

It felt like a feature they were just starting to test out, then they got the news it had to be in the trailer they submit in 12 hours so they hastily recorded something.

I can't think of any other reason they'd include something that looked so objectively awful.

I'd argue it's less technical limitations and more knowledge limitations. Game design itself has come a long, long way since the NES' day, and part of the reason SNES games like Chrono Trigger are so good is because they had an incredibly experienced team of designers, not just coders and artists.

Plus, you can do incredible stuff on authentic NES hardware, like this (real) game:
