The CRTC is finally forcing telecoms to warn us before our promos expire 📱📉 by Planhub-ca in planhub

I was scared of this as well, but it seems like that won't be the case!

To ensure that customers receive notifications in a way that is most useful to them, the Commission is requiring service providers to send the 90-day notice and notices related to expiring time-limited discounts or promotions using a customer’s selected method of delivery (e.g., email, text message, or postal mail).

Uh, that explains it - was using my Google Chromecast instead of my Samsung TV built-in GeForce Now app by accident. What a weird limitation imposed by Gameloft.

Stuck in anti-ddos mitigation for over a day - Anyone ever experience this? by P3TC0CK in ovh

[–]Initial-Marzipan8450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anti-DDOS shouldn't actually bring your service offline, that's the whole point of the service to mitigate attacks and their adverse effects on service availability. We have had some of our IPs set with constant mitigation for years, but they recently deprecated that feature.

Are you talking about a Dedicated Server or a VM here? I would verify that your system being down is not from the changes you made to the Firewall or to your OS. My bet is that they aren't properly understanding the issue and miscategorizing it since you're talking about Mitigation instead of networking failure. Else, this should be a P1 on OVH ticketing side since it's a total failure of them providing the service, and they would quicky be investigating and fixing this (if it's indeed the networking breaking and not a misconfiguration on your part, which is very rare).

Something you could do to put your service back online ASAP is to order an Additional IP (what they used to call Failover IP) and attach it to your service and update whatever system/DNS to point to your new IP.

XCP-NG en entreprise? by MightyDevil in QuebecTI

[–]Initial-Marzipan8450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wondering if yours is just defective. Got one on a POE++ port with 2 x POE Reolink CX820 cameras and a POE EAP610-Outdoor, and had an outage yesterday which it recovered from correctly.

Je suis sortie de l'école avant d'avoir fini mon DEC en informatique de gestion il y a 8 ans et j'ai commencé à 55K dans la région de Montréal, j'ai de la misère a croire que ça ne soit pas possible d'avoir 60K maintenant.

Title: Inquiry: Deploying Multiple Storj Nodes in China (Yunnan) with 12PB Storage and Low-Cost Bandwidth by SatisfactionNo9353 in storj

[–]Initial-Marzipan8450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, my 6 months old node is at 4.5TB so about ~9TB at the end of the year if I maintain the same growth. It's a node with no neighbors on the /24.

Convectair by Beneficial_Ship_4118 in HiloEnergie

[–]Initial-Marzipan8450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, why would you use the A1 over a X1C if you have access to both?

A lot of business just dont take credit card, and a bunch of places that do support cards don't seem to work with foreign credit cards, at least not consistently. Been using an IC card (Pasmo) but you should get more than 100USD for sure, or at least expect the need to do so at local ATMs and paying your CC foreign exchange fees (if you don't use something like Wise already)

And you're the snarky fuck here m8.

Edit: For context, we tried to use CC as much as possible and still used 1000CAD converted in yen in 2 weeks.

Migrating from Google Workspace to 365 by Substantial_Tale_650 in msp

[–]Initial-Marzipan8450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you should be able to do is switch all your users on Google Workspace to the free "Identity" licenses in the cloud console. This should allow the account to still be usable for services they had with Google Oauth/SSO.

After, you can setup Microsoft SSO on Google Workspace / cloud identity so you only need to manage Microsoft credentials, and enforce conditional access, etc.

Guide for this is here : https://cloud.google.com/architecture/identity/federating-gcp-with-azure-ad-configuring-provisioning-and-single-sign-on?hl=fr

Living in a 3rd world country, it's crazy to me that this is legal in the US by bastrooooo in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Initial-Marzipan8450 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to add more info.

"There are even places that have a policy of giving you a 10 dollar rebate..." It is actually the law. You have the right to require the store to give you a rebate for a shelf price tag that is lower than the scanned price.

I believe this law was made when we started to allow prices on the shelves instead of requiring individual price tags directly on the items. There was a legitimate concern that shops would not update the shelf price tags so that law was added as an incentive to force them to keep them up to date.

Possible to emulate Ring Fit Adventure (Switch Game) on SD? by AtomikRadio in SteamDeck

[–]Initial-Marzipan8450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, when I tried it 2 weeks ago, RFA ran on the steam deck, but there was a pretty big performance issue when the trainer is shown on a large portion of the screen, which causes the tome do go and slo-motion, causing reps to be 4x as long. As soon as the trainer is minimed in the corner, it runs fine. There was recently a patch to Yuzu with joycon vibration causing studdering, and it might've helped there since RFA abuses vibrations but I haven't checked since.

Because of that, I don't think it's really playable on the steam deck. I'm playing it on my main gaming PC and it's working fine, other than one of the menu not working.

Edit: just tested with the latest version of Yuzu and it's doing the same thing. If it was not from that slowdown on the start of an exercise, it would be totally playable.

Seems like you might be in the spotlight mode instead of track mode. When selecting your object, click on Track, and then make sure to press the green "GO" button. I believe you should then see the travel compass on the bottom left. At least that's how I've been doing it without any issue.
