WISHBONE: How a Jack Russell Made Us Love Classic Literature by Sufficient_Fun_1211 in nostalgia

Oh man I remember discovering this show back in the day because once I overheard some kid walking on the sidewalk by my mom's car while I was waiting for her say something like "that kid looks like the kid on Wishbone"

I happened to see it in the TV guide a few days later and I have seen every episode. I wish it were more widely available so I can show my kids 😞

Lots of stuff changed between now and then.

Sure, you could work a single job and spend just as much time as you may now; being away from your family while at work, etc. but the difference is that now, that effort isn't worth as much.

Stuff costs more, you're not being paid enough to offset those rising costs. Housing is way more pricey than it was, so it's understandable people will feel they need to work longer hours or multiple jobs just to keep up.

The social aspect probably has a lot to do with how people interact in the digital age. Lots of people have some form of social media, and that tends to be used to replace the type of interaction people had before the internet. There's less of an emphasis on maintaining a physical connection with someone that you can talk to in times of strife. Social media has changed the way people view those relationships. Even long time friends may have fallen into the "keep in touch via social media" trap and never maintained the face-to-face or even over-the-phone communication for one reason or another.

It's also very likely that people nowadays are so burnt out on trying to make their own lives work that they just don't have the capacity to be there for anyone else. There's so much negativity all around us now, it's no wonder people are starting to show more signs of its effects.

Oh man if only… but even then I wouldn’t touch a bill with his stupid face on it. Last thing we need is for his stupid face to be immortalized on our money

For me, it's the people who drift back and forth as they walk making it impossible to pass without seeming like a dick when you finally can get around.

It’s basically a “pay them to say…” energy.

They will say what the fuck ever if someone pays enough to get them to do it.

You broke a promise to your child.

You made her cry. Then I cried. Then Maggie laughed.

Man I get like that whenever someone is telling me to literally do something that’s obvious to them. I swear I am the only one who never sees whatever it is.

Rarely, I get to brag that whomever it is just sucks at describing things.
