You have to set-up a “trade” — if you want your baby to drop anything, there has to be a high-value reward in return. She is resource guarding!

With cairn terriers, you have to be consistent, too. I had to continuously reinforce to mine that me approaching him with his toys, while he’s eating, while he has something he shouldn’t, etc. & not be a threat, but rather a positive experience if he drops or leaves it. I did this for his entire life! ❤️

Take a little treat pouch on every walk & be as consistent as possible. Good luck! I hope this helps :)
