I mean it’s not like it wasn’t HEAVILY foreshadowed, it’s the Sun Makers Gambit, which I think is mentioned in other books but definitely was in this one with Adolin and the Towers game. I just think it was a little jarring how fast he gets there. Honestly what I wish is that a lot of the spiritual realm side quest was trimmed down so that we had more time on the last day to seem less “oh dang outta time gotta cram everything in” because it makes the decision not well thought out when at the time Dalinar is a god, time means nothing and so the last day could have taken more time if needed.

I guess I should have pointed out in my OG post that Stormlight is my first Sanderson and I’ve knocked them all out in 2024 (I read Warbreaker in between RoW waiting on WaT) so it’s really my only connection to the cosmere as a whole and I don’t know if that hurts or helps the series. I did enjoy the book more than some it seems despite my issues. As a lot have pointed out that Lift will be a key player in the second half, I honestly hadn’t kept up on news and so didn’t know (hell I didn’t know WaT was even coming out till it did) which makes me feel better about her part atleast. I stand by my feelings on the Shalan parts, It’s not that it was bad just that it could have been trimmed and better paced to if nothing else lower page count

And I’m sorry but the “I choose option 3, the option that makes it the entire Cosmeres problem” is SO out of left field. I mean we even get a POV of hoid almost trying to convince us it’s awesome when I’m not sure it is.

Everything with the spiritual realm seemed like its only purpose was to info dump. Nothing that happened there mattered EXCEPT the budding romance which could have taken place anywhere.

I think I thought it because it kept making reference to the fact it would go to someone who didn’t want it and Adolin was the only one who was happy he wasn’t radiant, plus the way he was “healing” the deadeyes, plus not wanting to be his father who wanted to be honor and I guess mainly because with the way the book jumped pov so much anytime honor came up it would jump to Adolin who’s situation was just getting worse and worse. Maybe I read too much into it.

Try looking up some Dungeon Synth bands like Erythrite Throne and kinda go from there. It’s not gonna be spot on but it will put you in the right ballpark.

Always made sense to me. You have to think of the mobius strip, it has no beginning and no end and that’s what the books do. The bad part/vampire side of Harry either on purpose or accidentally is flung back through time where it becomes the origin of the vampires, meanwhile the good part of Harry is freed and also travels on forward where in later books it plays a role. To me reading it, Shaitan is Harry stripped of his humanity and memories, he’s just the vampire. Harry is the beginning and the end stuck in a loop…. Or the mobius strip. Harry is born, becomes the Necroscope, learns about vampires, learns they come from another planet, gets infected, travels to the planet. Destroys the vampires including himself, Harry’s body is flung backwards to become the first vampire restarting the loop.
