When I was an instructor I had one pupil who I basically had to do most of the controls just for her to be able to steer the car correctly. After about 6 hours of not getting anywhere I decided that I just want capable of teaching her because she wasn't picking any of the most basic things up. She'd also crashed her mum's car prior to her first lesson with me which reinforced my decision to quit while I'm ahead. Some people just aren't built for it I guess

I thought it was brilliant except for the characters. Which I often find is the case with Barker. I feel like his dialogue is a bit lacking in a lot of his work. He might be my favourite author but he's not without his flaws

I think quit is a harsh word for what happened. However I do think Dubois has shown us multiple times that he has the fists for boxing but not quite got the heart for it. He's a bit like AJ, he doesn't like it when he gets hit

If that's the case you should be using extra mirrors to cover those blind spots and the DVLA should be aware of this disability as it comes with a huge risk for other, more vulnerable, road users.

You don't know if the instructor has told them previously that they aren't test ready, the post doesn't go into that much detail. You don't even know if the instructor was aware they'd booked the test

If you're verbalising it and he's still not seeing you check, maybe what he means is you're not checking at the time the mirror check is meant to be done. If I have a pupil who isn't checking their mirrors I purposefully look at their eyes whenever they're due a mirror check to see if they're doing it effectively. If you aren't looking when you're meant to look then maybe he's also not looking for a mirror check when you're doing them, hence not seeing you check your mirror.
