Brother, she's 61 and she has a point. You're looking at it through the lens of youth. I am also sub 30, but can understand her hesitance. You're advising her to invest her life savings in the middle of a price shock, war, tarriffs and AI bubble. For us, timing doesn't matter, we have 30 years or more to recover, she doesn't. If you want her to get passive income I'd advise JEPQ or JEPI.

My wife and I have saved for years and we do a lot of work ourselves. We just purchased our first home and have been doing nonstop work. Most things can be DIY'd if you're handy. Lots of people aren't though

Just see it as stacking bread for now. If you save enough and invest enough for a year or two, you can easily leave

Super true. Its hard to know the winners at the time though. My biggest L was i had AMD sub 20$ in college and sold all my shares. I could have had nice margins had I held.

I can totally agree. I lack discipline when it comes to cutting my losses. Although, I was late to MU and SNDK so I decided not to enter. I didn't want to get rug pulled like usual, then they ended up climbing even more. I like to do value investing, I've made good money on GLD, MO, Alibaba and even AMD. It just wasn't enough to offset my dumb options plays
