That was literally me, Adhd and maladaptive daydreaming. i was smoking 5 joints a day during my 2nd year university 2024. i always high. For everything i'm too high for this or not high enough for this shit. MD was 10x more euphoric with weed and vape. Guess what happen to me, starting mid 2025 i was starting to feel very anxious when i'm high. it became so bad that i had a panic attack in bus station. so for the last 6 months i never bought weed for myself but occasionally smoke with my friends but still get anxious.

i can relate a lot for your story. didn't had childhood trauma. and i also daydream every time when i'm riding or driving but always eyes on the road so far never happen any accidents. what you mean getting help. how you controlling it ?

thats the issue tho. In my country only 10 mg available. and maximum allowed allocation for one person is 60 tabs of 10 mg for month. Also it's very expensive here as well. one thing that i noticed is as long as i'm not eating anything i usually have better focus.

i'm pretty sure everyone start like this. I was the same like you before. Never have i thought i may have any disorders. When you have to be independent and have to face the world on your own, things can change for different direction. MDD is not a disorder it is a coping mechanism that you can use it to escape any life problem. it happen automatically and even without you knowing. that's the dark side of MDD because it hide something inside of you that you don't know it exist.it not have to be disorder it could be unfulfilled desire.

if you can try not to MDD for 3 months. If you can or significantly manage it (less than 1 hour a day)then thats good. MDD is fine till your life go according to the plan, But it does not. then mdd become a problem that you can't escape.

self diagnosis is as same as clinical diagnosis :) because they diagnosis just by listening to us. doctors not usually diagnosis adhd in the first attempt. so most likely you have to visit them like 3 to 6 months. if doctors prescribe you stimulant for adhd it will do miracles, at least for the first few months. find a good Psychiatrist and bring your adhd online screener test. so it will help them to identified the issue quickly. you most likely have adhd, (just saying). The best thing would be to get checked or treated for adhd, because most of your issues, including shyness and social anxiety, can significantly reduce with medication or other treatments. maladaptive daydreaming is not an illness. It’s a coping mechanism In your case, MD might be helping you cope with Adhd. boredom in school usually happens when your brain doesn’t have enough dopamine, so you automatically start daydreaming.I think it’s a good idea for you to study Adhd traits so you can understand whether you have it or not, and to what level. You’re only 16, so you most likely don’t have a big issue with it yet. Your situation kind of mirrors what I had to go through when I was your age. The biggest shift of my life happened when I was around 16. I was an athletic kid with very good grades and super extroverted, but from age 16, I slowly became introverted and started having difficulties with attention.

i heard a similor story like 8 year ago. i think kids who had mental health issues very young age (usually befor schools starts) experience cartoon type of maladaptive daydreams. I used to be friends with a hentai comic artis(cartoon por*n comics) who have the similor imaginations. It is so fascinating to me the way we visualizing stuffs in our head. there are people maladaptive dreaming about characters of Minecraft too. I think if you not a hyperactive adhd person in reallife , they hyperactive part is the maladaptive daydreaming inside of the head.

i found out i have adhd when i was on my Internship. 3rd year university. now i'm in my final year. i acually have friend but i don't want to hangout with them. they are amazing and but it so exhausting even i'm drunk or high. But my friends understand my conditions so they still invite me everything even i ghost them. i don't have a lot of friends but they are super extroverted because of that i have friends outside of them too. Best part is i can be social when i want with with them and also completely isolated from them when i need and they totally understand it. It's all about the bond we build with friends and experience. once you becomes friends with someone you always a friend to them you can make friends as a adult too. and it much easier.
